Connor Week By Week {4th Quarter}

I was actually really sad when this project ended (and a little amazed I kept it up).
I loved seeing him grow up...it just went by way too fast.

Connor Week By Week {3rd Quarter}

a little behind the times....oh well...

January

Maybe if I post one months worth of stuff at a time I'll actually keep up with the blog.....maybe.  So here's January in a nutshell...

Connor had a super fun "Winter One-derland" 1st birthday party

We had Chili & hot dogs and lots of toppings

I cut a giant mountain mural out of poster board and covered it with tissue paper.
Winter One-derland was hand lettered & the snow flakes are cotton balls strung on clear thread {I HATE working with clear thread.  annoying}

Connor and his igloo cake...I love the look on his face and the death grip he has on the plate.

He was very dainty about eating his cake, barely needed cleaning off (unlike every other kid in our family) I think it was a little too sweet for him, he hadn't really had any sweets before this, so it was all new to him. By the time Owen's birthday rolled around in March he was much more happy about cake.

I made homemade play dough in shades of blue for favors.  a few of the colors didn't turn out right so I had two extra batches that I made + the leftovers.  The kids (even the big kids) had fun the next day playing with it for hours.  One of their favorite creations was this guy...a dinosaur...I think...

After debating (a LOT) I decided to start painting and hand lettering.  I love it, but I need lots of practice....I've been going through water color paper a little to fast.

Connor fell in love with this little folding chair.  Plus it took him forever to figure out how to get out of it, so if I ever needed him to stay put for a minute or two, there he sat.  It worked well (still does a little bit) :)

A slightly horrible picture of Hailey's diorama school project/book report.  It turned out great.  Story behind it....a kid and a dog in a boat are rescuing a little boy who fell into the water.

on to February...

When Shorty Came to Town {Part 2. Washington DC}

Elias took June 30th off & we headed up to DC.  We rented a car since we max ours out (which was the worst tiny little car ever...no get up and go, which makes driving in DC so much fun) and headed up early in the morning.  First stop the zoo...
Watching the sea lions

A super nice police man offered to let Ollie try out this thing...which Ollie loved

Then told Owen to get on

Then made them all get on for a picture.  It was awesome :)

We saw the baby panda without a wait (just a bit of a crowd)

Watched these birds be fed.  Which was scary at times...poop everywhere. Hailey was narrowly missed :)

Halfway point & a zebra
A good tip, start in the back of the zoo, when you get to the front, cross the street and get a slurpy at 7eleven.  Seriously.

A ride on the carousel... Oliver was on a gazelle (or maybe ibex)

Hailey on an orangutan

Curtis on an wolf (and being a teenager)

Making Curtis smile & Owen on a cheetah

Owen living it up

and a lion

After the zoo we headed over to the monuments.  It was a long day, but well worth it...

The Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial

The Korean War Veterans Memorial

The Washington Monument

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial

The Lincoln Memorial

Elias made them pose for this picture...it makes me giggle

It was a great day.  So. Much. Fun.
