About Rob
Rob Boettcher is an active community member and resident of Sugar Land for the past twelve years. Rob chose Sugar Land to start and raise a family due to its great family atmosphere, safety, and suburban way of life. He is running for Sugar Land City Council to preserve what makes Sugar Land great while guiding it towards a promising future.
Rob currently serves on the Sugar Land Zoning Board of Adjustment (second term), is an active participant in the Sugar Land Strategic Action Plan, and genuinely cares about the well-being of Sugar Land because he both lives and works in the city.
It is for these reasons that the current At Large Position 2 Incumbent Jennifer Lane asked Rob to run for her seat and has given her full endorsement after she decided not to seek reelection to a 4th term.
Rob previously served as a Fort Bend GOP precinct chair, is also an Eagle Scout (with 5 palms), and comes from a family deeply rooted in public service. Both of his grandfathers, three uncles, and four cousins served in the armed forces including the Marines, Army, Air Force, Navy, and Coast Guard. His father was a career civil servant for the federal government having served in leadership positions in various departments including Commerce, Capitol Police, DOJ, & Homeland Security. Rob even started his engineering career in the public sector working on hydroelectric power plants for the Department of Interior.
Since then, Rob has grown in his career to become a Senior Engineer at SLB (formerly Schlumberger), the largest oil and gas services company in the world and a significant employer in our community. His next step is working to represent the great constituents of Sugar Land.
