A nice little find

Every once in a while batches of Ros figures do pop up for sale.  Today I received a small lot from the well known online auction site.  The lot consisted of some original Ros 25mm Napoleonics.  there were 10 line infantry in stovepipe shakos:

A Lamming officer and a broken lamming standard bearer were included.

And also some Highlanders:

British Infantry Stovepipe Shakos

As part of my renovation project I have just completed these Ros 25mm british infantry in stovepipe shakos, but painted them as Light Infantry c1815.  The commander and standard bearer are by Minifigs.

Ros 25mm British

Yesterday was the turn of some British troops to be refurbished and added to my updated 1815 allied Army.

The first unit is made up of 10 Ros British Riflemen, painted to represent the 60th Rifles. Ros did not produce a Rifles command, so I have added a bugler from Minifigs and an officer by Les Higgins. They are now ready to take to the field:

The second unit is a British Line Infantry battalion, again by Ros.  All of the figures are Ros Miniatures:

A Nice Little Find

After months of very little, this nice group of Ros 25mm British centre company line infantry in stovepipe shakos turn up. They were hidden amongst some Hinchliffe giants.

Their base is marked BI 2. It would be nice to find some flank company types as well.

British Line Infantry Command

Within a mixed group of British infantry I found an almost complete set of British line infantry command.  Missing from the group is one officer figure, but the standard bearer and two drummers were present.  As far as I am aware this is the only BRitish line infantry comand group manufactured by Ros, despite having infantry with stovepipe shakos in the range.

As with my other line infantry officer the base is porrly cast, although this time his sword and scabbard are OK:

On the base B7 can be seen, with B7/1 being the standard bearer, B7/2 the officer and B7/3 the drummer. They all bear the Ros logo too.

British Line Infantry Centre Company Belgic Shako B5

I found these figures as part of a group of ten lurking amongst a mixed group of poorly painted British line infantry. There were also examples of the British line infantry command (to follow).  In the Ros range there is another figure, which represents flank company troops.

On the base the word Ros can be made out, the date 1975, along with B5:

British Line Infantry Officer - Belgic Shako

Another Ros figure has turned up - a rather poor casting of a British line infantry officer. He would have been part of a five figure command group set. Sadly the casting is not good. Part of the base is missing and his sword and scabbard are a bit stumpy. He was originally painted as an artillery officer, but this has been rectified:

British Highland Infantry

I have about 60 Highlanders which have been in the collection from the outset. Painted about 40 years ago they are formed into three units, namely the Black Watch, Gordon Highlanders and the Cameron Highlanders. Ros made command figures, but I never managed to buy any. My highland troops have been commanded 25mm Warrior models. One day I hope to get my hands on Ros examples. I guess a pack of command figures would include a couple of standard bearers, an officer (probably pointing) and maybe a piper or drummer.

Here are all three units en masse:

British Riflemen

These figures are from my original 1975 collection and are finished in the uniform of the 60th Rifles:

British Naploeonic Line Infantry - Stovepipe Shako

Another ebay find was this splendid unit of British Infantry wearing the stovepipe shako. They have been neatly painted as Light Infantry, although this appears incorrect, as these are Centre Company troops. Light Infantry should have the wings in the shoulder. As far as I can tell Ros did not produce a stovepipe command group - although I cannot be sure at this stage.
