Tuesday Giveaway - Birthday Celebrations Continue

Instead of a stack this week there is a Tuesday giveaway.  To celebrate our 2nd Birthday in our shop, in Kilbirnie and our first ever sale I decided to host a giveaway rather than have a Tuesday stack.  It is our Birthday - but you get the gift.

The giveaway is for a fat quarter of each of the fabrics below.  But wait there is more - (no not a free set of steak knives) but an extra set of fat quarters for a friend of your choosing.  So one set for you and one for a friend.

To win the giveaway please leave a comment with the name of your friend and what you would like to make if you won the fabrics.

Commenting here gives you one entry (please make sure your contact details are either linked to your account or leave an email address).
You can also visit us on Facebook and leave a comment on the giveaway post and get a second entry.

The giveaway is open until 6pm (New Zealand time) next Monday 2nd June and a winner will be drawn next Tuesday.  I am happy to send the giveaway anywhere in the world.

Meanwhile the Birthday Sale continues if you would like to pick up some bargains in store or on line.

ribbon giveaway

Did you hear me squeal?  At the end of last week a new shipment of ribbons arrived, which caused all sorts of distraction from my normal work routines.  (Is it OK to fondle ribbons because they are so gorgeous?  - I think so.)

To celebrate and thank you for your support I am hosting a ribbon giveaway.

You can win 5 metres of any of the ribbons in store - your choice - you can have 5 metres of one ribbon or make up a dolly mixture of ribbons.

There will be two prizes given away and international entries are welcome.

To enter the giveaway just pop a comment on this post, or on my Facebook page over the next week,  letting me know your favourite ribbon.  If you are a follower or become a follower you will get one extra entry and if you like Stitchbird Fabrics on Facebook you can get a further entry (just let me know) - that is three in total - Yippee!!

Plus if you stay tuned you will see I have lots more ribbons and trims due into the Store in the next couple of weeks and if they arrive in time you can include them in your selections :0)

Entires are now closed - thank you.

And the winners are... plus another giveaway

Thank you for entering the giveaway for the ribbons.  The winners were drawn under close police supervision (yeah right) and are:

Peach Rainbow - Retro Daisies on Blue
Robin - Woodland Forest Friends
Make-do Mum - Schnickipu - I am having trouble contacting you please email me, thank you.
Greta @ topography - Love Chirp
Gill - Me and My Friends

I think it is amazing that you all chose different ribbons.

The other giveaway is not mine, but one that is being hosted over at my sister's blog.  Lesley is an amazing glass artist and she is giving away a pair of her beautiful rose earrings.  You may want to go on over and check it out.  Lesley makes the glass roses and puts them with swarovski crystals and sterling silver.  Divine!

ribbons, but not just any ribbons... PLUS a wee ribbon giveaway

Gorgeous woven ribbons arrived today and are in store here.  They are perfect for putting that finishing touch on your project.

Me and My Friends is by Susa Labim and I can't believe I did not know about her work before now - it is amazing - you can check out more of her work here

There are more ribbon styles in store.

If you would like to receive a metre of ribbon of your choice - please check out the ribbons in store now, tell me your favourite design and I will send a metre of ribbon to 5 readers (and of course your favourite one).  I will most probably do the draw at the end of the weekend. Make sure I have a way of contacting you!   Enjoy.

Comments are now closed - thank you.

A Giveaway

The kind people from Huggies have provided two packets of Dry Nites Pyjama Pants for ages 4-7 to me to giveaway to blog readers.  One for boys and one for girls.  Now I am not looking at becoming a product endorsement blog; but I remember the nappy days and they are expensive so maybe if you get a freebie like this you can indulge somewhere else - a bottle of wine or even some beautiful fabric ☺.

If you would like to win these please just leave a comment (and make sure that I can email you).  I will draw a winner in a couple of days time.

And stay tuned as I do believe it must be time for a fabric giveaway soon.

P.S.  Because the cost of sending the Dry Nites internationally is likely to be more than the value of the pyjama pants this giveaway is limited to New Zealand  readers.

Comments are now closed thank you.

my hat runneth over and the winners

Amazing!  Thank you to everyone who left comments on my giveaway.  I went to use the hat for the draw but there were just too many entries and they would not all fit.

So Plan B - one of the totes from the shop (Mr Stitchbird's suggestion and very appropriate too).  He also insisted on taking a photo of the draw including me.  YIKES and without the red eye reduction double yikes.

So onto the winners:

The first name drawn and winner of the Heather Ross set is Amy Seven Stitches whose favourite fabric is the plain linen.

The winner of the boys fabric selection was Abi who came and visited me when I did Stash Rehash in Christchurch earlier this year.

The winner of the Zakka Style collection is Viv from Highway Cottage Quilter.

The winner of the Midget hairties and the Aunty Cookie appliques is Faith Hope Cherry

And finally and it is one of her favourite fabrics Jacqui from Hazelnuts (this was not rigged!) gets the Echino Birdsong.  I hope you are feeling better soon.

I will contact you all via email tomorrow 'cos it is getting late.  My apologies for the late post by the way but I have been the taxi service to touch rugby and water polo.

I wish you all could have won - so as a wee concellation (is that the correct spelling?) if you pop the word "gift" in the promotion code at the checkout in the store you will get a 10% discount off your purchase.

Happy stitching everyone

tweet dreams

More picture spotting in the latest NZ House and Garden - the Bird Song cushion modelling in the style supplement.

Also just to give you the heads up - next week will be the first birthday of Stitchbird Fabrics, the shop opened on 2 November last year.  It has been a crazy ride, with lots of twists and turns but through out it all I have felt very fortunate to be doing something I love and to be in contact with wonderful, creative people. This job (if you can call it that) feeds my soul.

And in a well honoured blogging tradition and in the spirit of giving back, I will be hosting a giveaway here next week - so stay tuned.  I am yet to dream up what it will be - but promise it will be good.  I am also open to requests...

Happy stitching

Winner of the NZ Quilter Magazine and Goodies

The hat for drawing giveaways came down from its home at the front door to do another service at picking a winner - no random number generators here!

The hat is another op shop buy from a year or so ago and I love to think of the stories it might share, who wore it and what events it went to.  Mr S would like to know why it is at our front door - my reply "just because" - it's a girl thing.

And the winner of the magazine and some little goodies is Macmaree.  Macmaree I hope you are reading this because I need your email address to organise getting this to you.  Please email me lyndy@stitchbirdfabrics.co.nz

Sorry this is a day late but I ran out of yesterday.

my name is lyndy and I have a problem....

...an addiction to op shopping.

This week's bargains included some fine (handmade?) tatting $1, rose lace hand-made in China, approx 1/2 a card of 48 yards $2, a NZ badge/tie pin that says ONWARD 50 cents, 1.7 metres of very dark denim $1, and a gorgeous old gingham apron with handworked pockets and hem $2.

The lace does have some age spots, but is looking pretty good for its age and nothing that a soak in nappysan won't get rid of.  (Oh if only it was so easy for me to get rid of my age "spots")

Also in the mail today was a gorgeous package for ME!

I love mail, especially this sort of mail...

I was the very lucky winner of the Frank and Dean giveaway that was hosted on Stella's blog the golden adventures of a very dark horse.

Beautiful postcards, envelopes, stickers and other gorgeousness.  Stella and her sister Rosa May are artists have just started their new business F 'n D Printers of Distinction, printing some of their gorgeous art work to share. Great for gifts and also for reviving the art of letter writing.

And it's not too late if you would like the Quilters magazine and other goodies, just pop a comment in and  I will do a draw thingy on Monday and I will include some of the rose lace in with it as well as some other goodies.

I'm off to spend some time sewing.  Enjoy your weekend.

exciting happenings and a giveaway

What with the school holidays I feel as though there is not a spare minute to come up for air.

There are a number of exciting things happening at Stitchbird Fabrics, but I can't tell you just yet, otherwise I might jinx it!  But keep your fingers crossed for me.

One of the things I can show you is a gorgeous lampshade I have had made using the echino birdsong fabric in pink.

Now for the giveaway part which I know you were all wanting to read about - which I have left until last - so you have to read the other bits!

It has happened again, I have two copies of the latest NZ Quilter.  No, I am not going doolally and forgetting that I have bought one (although this could happen :)).  The lovely Mr S gave me a subscription for Christmas and the lovely people at NZ Quilter also send me a copy when I advertise in their magazine.

So would you like a copy of this magazine...

I love these quilts which are featured inside...

Also because I won a giveaway this week and I believe in paying it forward and sharing the loooovvvve, I will also pop some goodies from my stash in.  And I have got good stash!

To enter just leave a comment, if you would like two entries, become a follower and even better tell your friends.

More about the giveaway that I won next time, with some photos.

Happy stitching.

check it out!

Woohoo - next week I am going to Auckland to do some wholesale visits and also to got to tea - Crafternoon Tea.

And look who they asked to do a bit of freelance modelling:

The Ric Rac Modelling Agency of course had to agree a modelling fee ;)

The Crafternoon-Tea market will be held on Saturday 15th of May 2010, from 10am-3pm at the Trinity Methodist Church - which is on the corner of Sandringham and New North Roads in Crafty Kingsland.

You can also check out Luisa's blog to find out all the cool crafty people who will be there.

Can't wait!

And another check it out - Melinda is hosting a fabulous giveaway over at her Every Spare Minute.  Although why I am telling you this I don't know because it decreases my chances of winning that beautiful fabric.  So no, don't check it out, you will hate it, YEAH RIGHT!

Drumroll please...

With the help of our very own Divine Miss M the winners of the giveaway were drawn.  The winners are....

SarahH and Wendy the Wonderful whose blog I Love Baby Quilts is a visual delight, all those quilts are made by hand, including the piecing!  Wendy you are a brave woman!  I will be in contact with you to find out your fabric choices and address details etc to send you your giveaway goodies.

Thank you to everyone who entered.  I loved hearing about your favourite fabrics as a child, the trousers that made noises when you walk made me laugh, because I have that now, only it is nothing to do with the fabric and all to do with my Wonder Woman thighs :)

Happy stitching everyone.

P.S.  SarahH can you please email me as your contact details do not come up on blogger.  Thanks

GIVEAWAY

To all those that receive my newsletter - I said I would host a give away to celebrate the new shipment of fabrics - well here it is.

I am relatively new to blogging and this is my first giveaway, so I am not entirely up to date on all the giveaway etiquette, but here goes...

What goodies are being given away - two people will receive $40 worth of fabric (your choice) from my shop Stitchbird Fabrics, some lovelies from my stash - maybe buttons, trims, lace, or more fabric (I promise it will be something good), plus some handmade goodness.

To enter - please leave a comment on this post letting me know what fabric you would choose if you won, plus tell me about your favourite fabric that you had made into an item of clothing as a child.

I would love it if you were to mention the giveaway in your blog, if you have one, but it is not mandatory.  It would also be lovely if you came back and visited my blog again, maybe even come out of the lurking cupboard and become a follower.

Who can enter - I don't want to limit entries, I know the postage maybe expensive, but I enjoy reading blogs from all over the world and I love that blogland creates a world wide crafting community - so where ever you are please enter, if you win I will get the goodies to you.

Closing date for entries - 5 pm Wednesday 7th April

My favourite fabric that I had made into a piece of clothing as a child, I have two (I have always been greedy when it comes to fabric):

My mum made this granny print into a long (to the floor) dress for me.  The other was a cream fabric with squirrels and other animals on it that my Mum made into a halter neck dress (very cool).  I have a piece of that fabric somewhere too, but I can't find it.  This may give you an indication of my serious fabric problem and the size of my stash - I still have fabric from when I was 10 years old and I am now forty mumble years old! In my defence I did do hexagon patchwork with them at about age 10.

Looking forward to hearing your stories.

Happy Stitching
