Art Elements February Theme Challenge - Birds of Prey

Cathy Mendola chose Birds of Prey for the theme this month, and it's a pretty awesome theme. You are going to see some amazing work by my team members and the guests who have participated this month! I had plans of doing more than I did, as indicated by the purchases I made for the projects I had in my head. However, I have been doing some work in my house, so whenever time permitted, meaning after work and weekend hours, we were pretty much doing the room renovations. One of them is going to be my study/studio, and I seem to be foiled at every move by trying to get some work tables. So I have only one small project to show you this month.  But first, the purchases! This first Bali carved owl totem I got from fifirosedesigns on etsy - I wanted to make a mold and make my own cabochon to use in a necklace. However, I really did get around to doing that. So, I purchased the owl heads below. These owl head cabochons are from ArtisticVariations84 on etsy - they are just fantast...

Facet Jewelry Box Projects Completed

Well I've completed my Facet Jewelry Box projects. If you recall from my last post , I was asked to review a box and I gave you a coupon code if you order in November. I'll repeat the info below. Here are the projects I completed. This is the Embedded Peyote Bracelet. This was very easy to do, especially if you know peyote stitch. If you don't, its a great stitch to have in your repetoire and you can use the instructions to make this bracelet in a variety of colors! I think it would look great in southwest colors, myself! These are the Woven Fringe Earrings. This was a little bit harder for me, just to maintain the tension needed. You need a little bit more patience for these, but they are worth it. And again, make them in a variety of colors! I've posted these photos on my Instagram and copied them to my facebook page as well. You can find previews of future boxes on the Facet Jewelry Box FACEBOOK and INSTAGRAM pages, just follow the links! AND in additio...

Art Elements December Component of the Month Theme Challenge - Dragons!

It's Niky Sayers turn to host the Art Elements Component of the Month, and this month the theme is Dragons.  It's the December theme, but with the holidays and all, we're having the reveal today!  I got my cabochon from Jenny Davies-Reazor, this awesome dragon! I wanted to incorporate the dragon scale beads within the design, but I got sick and had issues with my brain doing what I wanted it to do, so I used the dragon scales as the picot edge. I still like it a lot! Please check out what everyone else made with DRAGONS! June AJE Theme Challenge - Summer!

Well, it's the end of June already, that must mean it's time for another AJE Challenge - this month it was a theme challenge, and the theme is Summer!  Here's what I made: My favorite thing of all time really is the beach and the ocean.  On my bucket list is a trip to Fiji - hopefully one day this can happen! This cabochon by our own Diana of Suburban Girl Studio was perfect! Please check out what everyone else made, and enjoy your summer! Art Jewelry Elements January Component of the Month - Use Your Stash

This month, Jenny Davies-Reazor is the host of the January AJE Component of the Month - the theme is use your stash.  I had high hopes of getting a lot done, but between work and other life stuff, I only was able to complete one piece.  Here it is! It's actually not completed yet because I need to make a strap for it.  But it's almost done!  I used one of  Jenny's pendant pieces and bezeled it with pretty purple delicas and red seed beads.  Then I added the czech flowers, with a stop bead, and the row of 8s with a stop bead as well.  Finally, I finished the edge with a picot edging.  I like it a lot. I wish I had time to complete more pieces, but I'm glad I at least got one done! Please visit with everyone else and see what they made!  Thanks for stopping by! AJE Component of the Month - Melissa Meman

It's that time again - time for the Art Jewelry Elements Component of the Month challenge. This time, it was Melissa Meman who provided us with some morsels to play with!  She makes awesome copper clay components.  This is the one I chose. I knew I wanted to do bead weaving (again!!!) and I picked some awesome colors to go along with the copper - peacock blue and wisteria. I did a spiral rope with size 8 peacock color beads and size 11 wisteria. I have to say, I don't like this method of using 3 8s as the base and 4 11s as the spiral - it's too loose for me.  I will write about this for my Tuesday post on AJE.  I used some beautiful angelite faceted rounds I had as an accent to the necklace, with about an inch of spiral rope in between the trio of beads.  The color of this angelite is really amazing!  As I was toggle clasp deficient, I decided to make some.  I punched 22 gauge copper sheet with my disc cutter, cut a hole in it, textur...
