A change is coming.....

i have to talk fast so here goes......i am now a new me ...i know you are saying to yourself that you have heard all of this before but haha the jokes on you this time and i will prove it to you.... i am on the pursuit of happiness and i am well into finding it here at home, in my new business, in my garden, in my sewing room, on canvas, by the fish pond, in my new career as a mary kay consultant, as the person who i want to be!!!

i have posted a zillion pics for you to enjoy or skip over what ever you chose to do but they are what keeps me going and what has been keeping me hopping for several weeks now. this is only the begining of the pile so get ready for me to get back on a blogging schedule soon ;-) I will be back because this blog is a very important part of my life and becky wants to be happy....right?

the grandkids spent 4 days with us a couple weeks ago when danny was on vacation and we got so much done.
Emma as it turns out is quite the gardener and i will post those pics soon. colton is now a brick mason.......

weeds b gone just like magic........

danny is the number one veggie gardener this year and it is looking quite fabulous despite the late late season due to cold rainy weather......no weeds here either

nice straight rows martha stewart style

lots of changes here with splitting and moving overgrown and over shadowed plants. leslie and travis put in a huge perrineal bed and some hardscaping the same week as travis was on vacation too......i had the little helpers for four days tho....hahaha sorry mom, so i did share a few plants with her and there are more to be sent her way

mulch hauled by the backhoe buckets....better than by wheelbarrow, right?

still more to be placed

colton and emma helped me build this brick pathway thru the garden. this is the path that we used for several years to walk to the mailbox, we moved the mailbox and had let the path grow over but it was really missed......just like nature intended there to be an opening of passage thru there. i am so happy with this, they did such a great job. i bought them 5 movies, let them have gallons of icy slusshy diet coke (their new fav and it was 90+ degrees everyday) swims in the pond and hottub breaks, and i fed them good too including weinie roasts at night and smores. they didn't want to go home....now i am afraid they won't come back.

my lilly is beautiful this season even though it is almost suffocated with other plants

painted the facade only on the hottub room for now....will finish it this fall. looks so much better don't ya think?

still a work in progress. the red rose is the "Love" rose that i planted last summer and she loves it here. she can put out the blooms over and over.....wish i had a whole garden of them..humm?

propagating boxwoods for more hedge

THE NEW GOAT DAIRY BARN!!!

the view from the porch of the hair studio

from the hair studio....this massive butterfly bush is a massive thorn in danny's side but he said i can let it bloom and then hack it back to a controllable size......:-(

now......miss robin is the hydrangea queen in atlanta, being the president of the garden club and all, and she has instilled the hydrangea fever on me big time. i am such a pushover. i have planted a Penny Mac on either side of the washer and a Mini Penny in front of the barn. i also have a Lady In Red in the front garden and 2 more to get planted as soon as the rain stops today. i can't wait for them to bloom!!!

my $1 goodwill chair that i re-rescued from the woodstove this winter.....omg i have to watch him like a hawk....

yesterday i aired my quilts on the back deck and then i dragged all my stuff out there and started quilting the old consigment store crazy quilt top that you see in my header pic and my previous post......now that was very therapeutic!! just what my soul needed, a 70 degree overcast day, quilting while the birds sang and overlooking the veggie garden......i love my new life!

i also needed a new sewing room...hahaha i have sewing in every room of the house and now i am using the deck?

i love my potting porch too.

i will be back with more soon.

there are several new sewing/quilting projects that are completed that i think are blog worthy.

have a great day friends.

Now this is what I was talking about.....

......those things that make me happy!

Here is my newly upcycled potting shelf for my potting shed, OOPS,

potting porch. It is an old entertainment center that I saw the potential for some greater use one day. Danny however did not see any potential in the piece and thought I had lost my cotton-picking mind over this one! LOL

It came with the mobile home, The Fairy's Rest.

I found a great used TV and TV stand on Craigslist and did not need this one so I kept it.

I am glad I did!

Robin bought me these darling bird drawer pulls at Hobby Lobby in Atlanta and brought them to me for Mothers Day! Cool kid, huh?

I saw them when we were there visiting Lillie but they were very pricey so I left them, reluctantly. But in a couple weeks they showed up at my doorstep!

The water spigot hooks HAD to come home with me.

I LOVE IT!

This will be put to good use along with my Pouting Pany's Potting Bench/Table from last year.

I will paint it green to match the shelf and call it all a potting porch!

Storage on the back side for all my garden tools. Well the small ones anyway, need to figure out what to do with the big shovels and such....hmmm??

I love this picture!

{smile}

I had to play around with Picasa and I like this one too!

So this is what I was talking about in my last post when i mentioned doing what I like to do....did I say when I like to do it too?

I have officially quit my fulltime job as of last Friday, however, I must have had a senior moment when they asked if I could fill in one day a week til they could get someone hired and trained for my position, and I said "Yes, I will be more than happy to work every Wednesday for four weeks!" What was I smoking that day?

It's Ok though!

I can do anything for eight hours a week, right?

I have had such a great time in the past 4 days and have accomplished so much that I do not want to mess up my streak by going to work tomorrow!! URGH!!!

I think I can.....I think I can....I think I can......

Climbing Roses!!

I LOVE THEM!!!
Any and all of them!
I have 2 New Dawn Roses,
I just killed the third one by moving it to a new location beside my chicken run, right before our hard freeze.
I could just picture it running up over the run and providing eye candy for me and a nice shady area for my hens to be shielded from the very hot afternoon sun.
Sorta killing two birds with one stone!
I have been looking for a replacement rose for just that same spot
and I am getting ready to paint my chicken coop.....(don't tell Leslie because I want it to be a surprise when I ask her to help me paint it ;-)
It will be the same Stone Grey tannish color of our house and garage.
I felt with that color that a yellow rose would look really well draped over the run.
Yesterday I purchased two Golden Showers Roses and planted them both there beside the run.
I can't wait til they take off.
I am going to plant a Jackmannii Clematis (dark purple) and a Henryii Clematis (white) beside these roses for a beautiful color show next summer!!!
I just can't wait!
Can you feel my excitement?
I am also very excited to share with you a great youtube video of "pegging roses"!
I never heard of it til tonight.
Please let me know if I am the only rose lover out here that has not heard of this.
I love climbing roses and have had the best luck with them of any roses that I have ever tried to grow, but I always felt that they needed support in order for them to flourish.
I have now been informed of other ways to grow climbers.
Watch out folks.....I might just get my rose garden that he promised me anyway!!!!
So Katie Barr the door!
I can stick a climbing rose anywhere!!!!
I have my wheels a turning now!

Just hanging out in the garden....

Imagine my surprise this morning when I went out to cut some peonies off to put in a vase in the house. I wanted to enjoy the beautiful blooms a little longer in case it rained or hailed today as they were calling for. I just picked up this bloom and was getting ready to cut it off when I spotted this green monster stuck to it. Well now I am not afraid of frogs like my mother is! She is petrified of them!!!! Made for some good laughs over my lifetime too. I am not afraid of them unless they startle me by jumping on me. But..... I can tell you that this was probably a Funniest Home Video winner that went to waste!!!!
I did a dance that I didn't know could possibly be brought on by a little ole frog!! I screamed so loud that I am sure he died cause he was still there when I went back with the camera. All I could think about was him making a leap onto my camera lens while I was trying to film him, or worse yet onto me!!!!!!!!!
I have no idea what he is....I am thinking maybe a baby toad?????
Who knows we have the perfect habitat here for all sorts of creatures. We have 3 big bullfrogs in the water garden. I don't blame them I would like it in there too with the lillies blooming right now. We have all sorts of itty bitty bitty tiny frogs hoping all around the pond, maybe a half inch long. Pink snakes. Yes pink. Toads. Bear. I also spotted a big mud turtle in our fishpond this morning when I was mowing around it. Gotta set some turtle hooks in there. That is always exciting ;-)
They can make me dance a jig too!!
I got the mowing done. Danny came in around noon and we finished planting the garden.
Garden counts:
Potatoes, tomatoes~ Mr Stripey, Early girl, rutgers,Roma, German pinks and yellow pear, peppers green and jalapeno, brussels sprouts, swiss chard, beets, cabbage red and white, red, yellow and white onions, leeks, garlic, Roma beans, yellow wax beans, green peas, Amish pie squash, Acorn squash, cucumbers 3 different varieties, October beans, radishes, dill, chives, oregano, sage, thyme, Kandy corn, watermelon, cantalope, zuchinni
and there is not a place to possibly stick another plant!!
Now just let the growing begin. It is so hot out there and our soil has warmed so nicely that I feel like everything will probably do good now....Whew!!! That's a lot of work but it's so worth it in the end!! Think I am ready for a nap now!!

It's a Martha kinda day!

I found out this afternoon that Martha Stewart is on Hallmark channel almost all day now!
Why didn't someone tell me??
These are the old shows when I was just so in love with her!!!
I was able to catch a couple hours this afternoon, only after I had done a ton of work around the house...OK? I am not a couch potato!
I learned a lot today about seedlings. I thought I knew more than I did about seedlings but for some reason I am being tested this year!
My peppers and tomatoes are doing wonderfully so far but the onions, leeks and lavender are struggling along trying to die a long slow death.
I love daffodils but this is a double dose of daffodils!!
(their reflection)
My poor husband is stranded in the big rig in WV today with his truck shut down by the DOT for a mistake on his permit to haul a big piece of equipment from Ohio.
While he is eating well on the company (haha he has free rein to eat anything he wants tonight and he called me a little bit ago and said he was eating his leftover pinto beans and cornbread that he took with him. Said it was better than anything he could get in a restaurant .....he sure loves me) and sleeping in a cushy motel room I am all by myself.
I walked the treadmill today......woowoowooooooooooo!!!!
The last time I did that little number for 3 days straight, I couldn't walk for 3 weeks with back pain. This time I will start slowly and build up gradually, and get in the hottub afterwards. It is amazing how much the hottub really can soothe your overworked muscles and keep you from getting sore. I hope to be able to get my calisthenics started again soon too......gradual Becky!!
I have fed and put all the animals to bed, I am getting ready to hit the hottub and then I hope to squeeze a new haircut in before American Idol comes on and then I will lay back on the sofa and crochet. No I did not crochet hardly at all while I was under the weather, took too much energy!
OK my gardening friends......is this Cresse salad?
Watercress? We used to call it creesie salad!
I have been wanting some and I knew this was out there where it always comes up around my flowering quince. Danny says this is creesie but "It's the bitter creesie"!!
Can you tell? Do I have to just taste it?

Anybody?

Please let me know what you think. I have 10 bunches that should make a pretty good salad and I am feeling the need for something fresh!!!
It's springtime ya know!!!!!

FYI~ I will watch Martha tomorrow on the TV in my sewing room while working on something fruitful like a king size quilt!!
