Absent Minded Needle Art Practitioner

No. I haven't lost my mind.  Just a little crazy is all.  Frazzled I was!  Frantically searching for me ol' spectacles. I'm blind as a bat without my magnifying equipment.  Swear words would soon be forming at the base of my spleen as frustration increased. (Bite your tongue. Pull yourself together!)
"Where are my dog gone glasses?????"
There they are!
Well would you look at that!  Both pair.
Now that's just embarrassing.

Loved this quote...may I forever be a "lover".
Life is short people.

Let the lover be disgraceful, crazy, absent-minded. Someone sober will worry about events going badly. Let the lover be.

Fridge Magnet Humor

Greetings to all my lovelys.

Still super stressed over here.  Took on too much and have to get it done ASAP.

Bit off more than I can chew.
Too many irons in the fire.
Burning candles at both ends.
My eyes were bigger than my stomach.

Any more idioms?

Thought I would stop in to say hello and give you a grin for your Monday.
I'm wondering if my 17 year old son has trust issues.
Therapy maybe?  No.......they will just blame the mother.

These magnets are hilarious.
When his friends come over for a visit,
they all have to make a stop at the fridge to shock me with a new sentence or two.

Be at peace.  Be kind.  Be grateful

Weekending

Worked so hard this week on merchandise for my antique booth and Etsy.
I'm exhausted.
Really, really, really worn out.
I wish I had something more interesting to share than this............

My best friends butt.

We found this on a beach in New Hampshire and died laughing.
Are we the only ones who think this sign is hysterical?
I made her pose for this pic.  I'm so mean!
A true friend would have never done this.

Well pretty people.......have a blessed weekend.  Be safe and warm.
Make memories.  xoxoxox

Antique Little Girl photo in Corvex Glass Frame

Here is a tutorial on avoiding cat fights in the thrift store in 2 easy steps:

1.  Let me have it.

2.  Walk away and forget you ever saw it.

(Otherwise, there will be some major hair pullage)

Oh snap, she's kidding right?  Right?

***********************************************************************************

All humor and kidding aside, I would never, ever fight at a store or hurt someone and if someone is going to turn the other cheek, it will usually be me.  At the thrift store, it's usually me who sees beautiful antiques like this antique photograph with curved glass in someone's cart.

I almost died.....seriously.....my heart lept off the balcony into my stomach and I got the roller coaster ridin' adrenalin rush.  Weeeeeeee!  The thrift store was closing and the people there were none too happy with me.  They all but yelled at me to Get Out!!!

I'M NOT LEAVING WITHOUT THIS ITEM, so chill out pretty peoples.

I gave them my money and ran to the car to cuddle her.  I ran so fast, you might have thought I had stolen her.  I was too excited to walk calmly and keep my poker face.  She was icky dirty and needed a bath.  No.Problem.  *big cheesy grin*

I've wanted one of these since I was a little girl.  We had one with my great grandpa Braddock in it.  My mom (accidentally) broke it throwing a shoe down the hallway (my poor mother has the worst luck).  :(  Curved glass is rare and difficult to find.

And by the way, don't ever ask me to take a photo of curved glass again.  This was a VERY hard thing to photograph.  Oy!
***********************************************************************************
Is it just me, or is Pooh smiling in this photo?  What a PUNK!!

Get off my stuff Pooh, Mom's working!!

Keeping it Real, Amiable Peoples

I understand your temptation to copy my trademark look and steal my decorating ideas and my ever so fabulous photography, being as this is a super duper trendy, superior "Lifestyle" blog and all...

Please contain your enthusiasm.  Maybe try for a little more originality next time.
Don't copy the "Saints" (ME) of holiday decor.

Here is my covet inducing tour of my holiday home at this very moment in time.
I have a hateful cold.
Meaning, it makes me hateful and whiny.
The Rats and the Nutcrackers are fighting and there is a fog of war in my virus infested nose.throat.ears.& chest.

Pray the hero wins in the end!

My eclectic decorating style.  Dig a bunch of stuff out, throw it up there thinking the shoe maker's elves will come make it pretty.
They never show up.  Oy vey!

Oh crap!  Is that Halloween still out?  Oh, HEY...there's Pooh's new ball!
Clean this mess up peoples~

See all my beautiful gifts wrapped under our pretty tree, on top of our heirloom tree skirt?

Speaking of tree......that ONE pink ornament is the bomb!  Awesome!!!!

Found a goose feather on a friends farm.  Stuck in the tree!  Weeee!!!!

Here is my, "At least I brushed my hair and put it up in a ponytail" self portrait.
I didn't invent it, but I ROCK it.

Pooh tells a not so funny story

My mom was in a "not feeling so well" mood tonight.  She thought taking the dog for a quick walk would clear her head of the "oogies".  As if I'm going to sit around and watch the dog be the source of her joy and mood improvement. !!!  I must win.  Meeeoooowwwrrrrrrr...

She walks down the very dark street with the stupid, in a hurry to smell everything delicious, DOG.  I think it will be a good idea to follow her all the way down the street, way down the street, way way down the street...in the dark.  With traffic coming and going.
CRAP!  She saw me.

Busted.  Quick.  Run and make her chase me.  That always makes her laugh.  She likes playing tag.  Her absolute favorite thing to do is trying to catch me in the neighbors shrubs at night.  She loves to play hide and seek with me.  Wait, what???  Why is she screaming and yelling?  I thought I was making her happy.  Ohhhhh boy.  I'm in trouble.  I think I better hide under a car and....quietly, tip...toe.. back home.

(If I was a gentleman, I would help her catch the dog who also got away while she was trying to catch me.  But I'm a little intimidated by her anger at the moment.  She's on her own.  I'll stay down here under a car, where it's safe)

She is giving me the silent treatment.  WHATEVER LADY!!!  I tried!!!
I stick my tongue out at you with passive aggressive afterthought.
(I will sneak into bed with her tonight about 2:00 am.  She'll never know.  I STILL WIN!)

Meanie.

Party Decorating idea

Here is a great way to decorate your table for a party. Buy a can of peanuts and set a candle on top. I hope you've been inspired in your visit to my blog today.

((((group hug))))

Such a great response. I never expected so many questions. As you can see, I purchased the peanuts at Publix and I believe I used salted, as salt adds to the glittery elegance. I also used a Party Lite candle purchased at a garage sale, so not only does this make a beautiful table display, it's economical as well...which means you'll have more money to spend on.......PEANUTS!!! A display for peanuts...or of peanuts.......

Please feel free to email me with any more questions. Blessings and Peace! Blessings and Peace!

Learning to Knit ... Ugh

Methinks it is a token of healthy and gentle characteristics, when women of high thoughts and accomplishments love to sew; especially as they are never more at home with their own hearts than while so occupied. ~Nathaniel Hawthorne, The Marble Faun, 1859

So last year's New Years resolution was learning to knit. With the help of books, lots of You Tube videos & practice, we did ok. My daughter did well and picked it right up. While I enjoyed it, I was ready for my crochet hook by the time all was said and done. I still want to learn more, but I want to take a class so I can watch someone do it. Books are hard for me. I'm a hands on learner, which is always inconvenient as you have to wait for a patient teacher who has time to deal with you to come along and save the day.

This is "photo essay" of our first knitting adventure. Wow! Using the words "photo essay" makes you feel so smart and artistic. LOL

Getting started...

I loved this picture because my dog's nose is trying to get me to pay attention to her while I'm trying so hard to concentrate! Geeze! Someone always wants mama...give me a break!

She is a natural! She loved it, which made me very happy. She needed a craft outside of what her mother loves, to call her own.

I'm TRYING!!

Had to take a mental break....scream....add a fake eye ball impalement for dramatic effect

LOOK! We invented something. A toe blanky. We're going to make a million $$$'s off this pattern some day. LOL For realz!

I surrender. Give me my crochet hook!

Look at her go! She's a genius. I love this kid!

If you want to teach yourself to knit, there are some great books out there, but we learned the most from You Tube videos. I hope to eventually move on to hats and socks.

Be blessed! Choose Joy! Love you all!

Attempted Murder of a Betta Fish

Allyson brought her Betta fish home to be "fish sat" during Thanksgiving.

At 4:00 AM this morning I heard a horrible, "home shattering" crash. My first thought was someone came to kill us! Eeek! Upon further investigation, I find the Betta and his bowl spilled all over the living room carpet, along with a large bowl filled with acorns (a very large bowl).

I've got wet carpet, fish bowl rocks, acorns every where....where's the fish? I FOUND HIM. He was dying.  I hurried to put him back into some water as fast as I could, carefully studying his color so I could run to Wal Mart and buy another fish just like him .

After mouth to mouth and a few tapping's on his chest, he started swimming again. Thank you Lord. Then I had to clean up all the mess. It was every where.

The violent perpetrator of this crime was non other than...you guessed is....Pooh, the narcissistic hungry, spiteful cat....also known by his alias...Moo Moo or Poopee...which ever one fits the circumstances of the time.

He has been banished to solitary confinement, until the Judge wakes up and sees the wet carpet in our brand new house. I have a feeling the Judge will sentence him to death. I'll have to be the best defense attorney to ever live, and try and save his life. Our plea will be entered as "Not Guilty by reason of Curiosity" and hope curiosity won't kill the cat this time.

The fish has been placed in a witness protection program and is safe from further harm (keeping fingers crossed).
Pooh's mug shot

He's a complete sociopath, totally at peace with the world, as he sleeps with his mouth open here, probably waiting for a bird to fly in. He is an evil kitty today.

5th grade, 1978

What were you doing in 1978?

I was working on my Farrah Fawcett hair. Why was a girl with thick, straight, heavy hair with no texture trying to look like Farrah Fawcett? This was my favorite dress too. I remember wearing it with black shoes and white stockings. Isn't that a fashion no-no?

Jonah Leadership Material or Future Tyrant??

My son is a Shyster.

He's almost 13 so I guess I'm due for something like this.

I found out today, he's been charging girls who want to sit by him at homeschool co-op. Apparently, he's so popular and there are so many girls who want to be his friend, he's been taking advantage of it. They bring him offerings of candy or chips each week in hopes that he will grant them access. I guess he thinks he is King Xerxes. He even has a bunch of boys who assist him as bodyguards by not allowing girls without offerings to approach his "throne".

I find this disconcerting, disturbing and embarrassing. How dare he. What a total brat, albeit, a creative one. Wait until his father gets home from Pennsylvania to hear this! I've been praying for God to help us see his strengths so we could guide him into high school studies and college. I think the Lord answered my prayer. My sons strengths are in politics. He needs to major in political science and be a politician.

I'm disappointed in his judgment. What was he thinking? I asked him how long he thought he was going to get away with it and didn't he think I would ever find out????

The funny thing is, my son is such a sweet, compassionate, tender hearted, generous, thoughtful, very, very kind person. He's a stand up guy and wouldn't hurt anyone. He goes out of his way to be helpful and do the right thing by everyone. He would do anything for anyone and not because of pride or attention or a thank you....he does it because his heart is pure and he cares about people. I'm just shocked that of all the wrong things he could do, this would be it. I guess I should be glad he isn't hiding in a bathroom taking drugs or something.

It's pretty bad when your child does something awful and you are just grateful it wasn't drugs. *wiping forehead*

Character training is more difficult than I ever thought it would be. He's in so much trouble. I think his Aunt Ginger was his downfall. She taught him how to smoke cookies while playing games.

I'm blaming it all on her.

The Sinkhole Incident

I fell in a mysterious sink hole while walking the dog. It was straight out of the movies, as when someone digs a hole in the jungle to catch a tiger or something and covers it up with bamboo, except my hole was covered with grass.

My daughter and her boyfriend had to pull me out. It was really funny, but I've been paying for it every since. I caught myself with my left arm and shoulder.  I honestly didn't know if I would live to tell. I don't know how my leg wasn't broken because I was twisted like a Twizzler under ground. God was looking out for me (again). Her boyfriend stuck his leg down in it to see how deep it was and there was no bottom. Something about living in Florida inspires one to watch where you step and I'm just not that kind of person.

This is my illustration of what happened, complete with coffee spill to the side. I drew it for my husband so he could understand what happened. I thought with so many beautiful art blogs out there, I would share my art work too. I'm so glad you weren't there because you would have laughed too, and I then I would have been mad at you and there would have been a big fight…....grrrr...

A "Help, I've fallen and I can't get up" moment, if ever there was one.
I'm anxious for more followers.  Please stop by again and leave a comment.
Be blessed and Be a Blessing!
