Mermaid Painting

I added this mermaid painting to my store yesterday. The inspiration came from a painting I found on Pinterest. I love the colors of this one and the misty feel it has. Do you dream? I do! Maybe she is dreaming of the rose garden she will one day plant. I have yet to plant mine, but I can dream✨✨✨12x16 stretched canvas.

Making a painting nook

I decided to get my painting off of the dining table, so I created a little nook in my living room.  My studio is just to hot to work in right now.

Studio Time

I've been away from blogging too long. I have decided that I am going to start back up with the my blog Sea Gypsy Cottage. There seems to be more going on at home than in the studio. Even though my studio time is limited, I spend lots of time reading, studying and trying to teach myself new things. At the moment I am really taken with intuitive painting. I want to apply the intuitive side but also incorporate the knowledge learned over the years. I love it when art just happens! I am typing this blog post on my phone which I think is totally cool! This old dog is learning new tricks . I'll add a picture from my phone and I'll let this post be my first post on the run so to speak. The pic I am sharing is a painting in progress lots of texture. I can't wait to see how it turns out.

Painting Finished!

I finally finished this painting. I know there must be..... hundreds of dots! Twenty something years ago I painted furniture something like this( the background without the girl). Sometimes the pieces would take months depending on the size. I painted a floor lamp and it sold the minute it came in the shop. I would love to do another lamp for myself. It just takes so long to do this type of painting, so I have to dig into the bag of patience( which I do not seem to have much of lately). There are things I do not like about this pic, so I'm anxious to start another one.

I am calling this piece "Dream Weaver".

Learning New Things

I decided this week would be spent trying to learn something new. I purchased one of Somerset's Magazines, The Art Of Paper And Mixed Media. There is an article on DJ Pettitt and one of her techniques for painting faces. I hesitated to share my first attempt, but I learned something and thought it was important. I sketched out this first face from my head and the picture at the bottom was scratched out from a photo. I could not believe the difference, so I will definitely work from a photo for reference. I spent no more than fifteen minutes on the drawing of each face( I really need to take a little more time) because I was anxious to get to the painting. I am going to incorporate this style of painting in my future dolls, so before that can happen I need to keep on exploring and playing in the paint. I hope everyone has a great weekend. I started cleaning up my computer room this week, so I am going to finish that up this weekend. I have discovered digital collage and am spending more and more time in this space.

Abstract Painting

I am heading out to do a little junking today. My other favorite thing to do. I am still working on my painting. I am hoping to achieve a very lacy effect in the end. If not on this one maybe the next. I also want to thank you all for your comments and I want to tell each one of you how much you inspire me. I have not had much in the way of support or positive encouragement and sometimes it is hard for me to know what to say, but I do thank you all from the bottom of my heart. I hope you all have a great weekend. I am going to try and have a little fun and I hope you do to. I think sometimes we work too hard. Not only are we all working on art, now we have to learn the computer, learn to network, photography and that darn printer! :)
