lunes, 21 de mayo de 2012 Dillon Myers - Creo (2012)

This is the beginning. 'Creo' is an introduction to a broad range of music fans and a way of saying "Here I am! I'm only getting better." Two years prior to the recording and release of this CD was the first time I had ever played guitar and began to sing. After listening and absorbing all types of music I felt like I had something just as good to say as the "big guys," I just needed some time to develop and hone my craft. This EP is the direct result of that. Through two years of writing I chose six songs that I felt would best represent the genuine release of my emotions, stories, and experiences, as well as lay a foundation for my future as a singer/songwriter. "Roll On" is a fast upbeat tune about being positive and hopeful about a future, being free and walking with your head high knowing you're completely satisfied with yourself, and never being embarrassed to say "this is me!" Along the same lines, "Who I am" describes a headstrong, no-one-can-tell-me-what-to-do attitude that we have all had in our younger years. It also ignites familiar images of the good times and all nighters everyone has tasted at least once.
Delving into a more emotional standpoint is where each of the other songs lay. "Coyote Call," (as well as three other songs on this album) was written at my grandparents home comparing a human's natural emotion of loneliness and even depression. The coyote's howl forces you to dive into the feeling of isolation and explores the outside world looking through the eyes of that very feeling. "Rain On A Sunny Day" sets the stage for two lovers to be completely entwined, to be each others yin and yang, and to balance one another in good and in bad times. That sensation of breathlessness and complete vulnerability to the one you love is this songs very core. "Ryann" touches on the idea that it only takes one friend to lift you up and instill new hope and faith in yourself. We all have the power to positively influence another person, and "Ryann" explains just that. It is the restoration of happiness only a true friend can bring about. Last but not least, "Stop and Move" steps up to the plate. This is the constant rhythm anyone goes through after a heartbreak. With every ounce of energy drained from your insides you just 'wanna' stop and sit still in peace, yet that peace will soon be overpowered by the thought of the missing lover and you will soon find yourself wanting get up and get out. It is a constant cycle on repeat until time heals the wounds.

This album is a first for many things. It is my first impression for the fans of genuine music and my first experience as the teller instead of the listener. Every essence of my being was put into this album so that each flaw and strength I have is prevalent in each note produced. The good times and the bad, the future and the present, and finally- me and you. 'Creo' will surely embody it all.
