Puppy Party

My pip-squeak is totally into puppy dogs. She loves to go to the pet store (puppy store) and watch them play in their cages. She loves to sleep with her "goggy". And, she loves to crawl around on the floor and pretend she's a puppy. So, naturally, for her birthday we had a little puppy-dog theme going on. The kids got "dog bones" and candy dog collars. They searched for dog bones and we all enjoyed a tasty (if I do say so myself) doggy cake. My parents, grandparents and cousin (with his whole fam) came over to play and enjoy a little cake and icecream. I loved having everyone over, even if we had to cozy up next to each other. The pip-squeak absolutely loved the attention, and the cake. She seemed a little concerned about the lit candles. Lucky for her there were six other kids ready and willing to blow them out for her! Thanks to everyone who came and shared her birthday with us! We loved having you all over.

In A Blink of an Eye

Here we are at birthday number two! The pip-squeak has changed a lot over the past year. From learning to walk, to potty training she has taken us for a ride. She is so smart. She's definitely taught me a lot this year. For example: I have learned to walk and put in piggy tails at the same time; I have learned there is a BIG difference between crackers and pretzels; I have learned that strollers are much more fun to push than to ride in; and, I have learned that I have a feisty little angel who loves to love and be loved. Sometimes it's hard to believe that she has already been here for two years. Other times I think, has it really only been two years? Either way we are so blessed to have her in our family! So, I think I'll keep (her tantrums and all), at least for another two years. :) (I know, shes a totally posh princess right!)

WARNING: Shameless Plug

I added a new product to my little blog store. I call them Bibbles. They are bib clips that can turn just about anything into a bib, so you don't have to tote around sticky bibs everywhere you go. I wish I would have made some of these for the pip-squeak ages ago! We've bought several boxes of disposable bibs to bring with us while we're out and about, but if I would have figured this out a while ago I could have just kept in the diaper bag! I've got one in my bag now, and now all I have to worry about is whether or not the restaurant has napkins....

Yum-O!

After giving her this I decided that all giant lollipops should come with age recommendations on them! Or at least a disclaimer:

WARNING: Nearly-two-year-olds will become completely encrusted with a thick, sticky layer of candy residue, which may prove difficult to remove. Proceed at own risk.

The Recap

The pip-squeak turned one at the end of January! She has changed so much over the past few months that I can hardly believe it's only been one year.

Little Guy turned five in March and got a big bike. He had a big birthday party with 18 (yes, 18) kids. They had a lot of fun, but from now on I'm sticking to a birthday list that can be counted on one hand!

In May we took a family trip to Disneyland. It was fun to watch both of their little faces light up with all the magic and fun they saw! We're already ready to go back.

The little guy lost his first tooth on May 22, 2008! He has since lost one other and currently has two that are loose.

After 11 months of crawling the pip-squeak finally started walking in June. She was 16-months old.

Little guy's first day of Kindergarten was on August 25, 2008. I didn't know what I'd do without him when he started. Now I don't know what to do with him when I have him!

Hooray! Pip-squeak was potty trained in October. She caught right on and now we are a diaper-free zone. After she started using the potty on a permanent basis we moved her to a big(ger) girl bed. She is now in a little toddler bed. We've never had a problem with her getting out of bed (so the opposite of her older brother), though she has fallen out a couple of times.

For Halloween I gave in and let the little guy pick his own costume. I still have a few more years of picking for my little pip-squeak. Thus, the fuzzy, purple pillowcase with a face! (I think I have a career ahead of me. People will be lining up around the block for my fuzzy, purple pillowcases:)

Last, and least, I broke my foot on November 30. I'm really good at regrowing bone though so I'm mostly back to normal. Thank goodness!
