Diamond Painting #2

I finished my second little diamond painting yesterday.  It came in a set of two fox-themed pictures, and I chose to work on it first because I like the other one better and wanted to save it for later.  This one's not bad, but the fox takes up less of the picture, so it doesn't have as much detail.  The colors are a little abrupt on the fox, too, but I kind of like the color palette, with all the pinks and purples and oranges.  It might not be anyone's favorite diamond painting, but it was still fun to do.  The item code is B108, and I got it here (Amazon affiliate link), if anyone's interested.   As always, it looks better from a distance, and it's difficult to capture the sparkle in a photo, but I snapped a couple, anyway.   View this post on Instagram A post shared by Michael Johansson (@mossy.owls) - - - - - - - I'm still trying to do some watercolor/doodling on a regular basis, though missing just a day or two has...

Autumn Leaves and Spring Flowers

I've spent some time this weekend putting together the cream/beige-background leaf blocks... This is a tentative layout, minus the sashing and border.   The border will probably take a while to pull together.  I believe I have enough HSTs ready, but I need to arrange them pleasingly and join them.  We've been having unpleasantly warm and humid weather lately, but this afternoon a cool front blew through.  We took a walk, and the air was so cool and fresh!  Okay, the temperature is still 70℉, but with lower humidity, that passes for "cool" here, in late March.  Perfect weather for putting together this quilt.  I can pretend it's the beginning of our cool season instead of the tail end!  😭😂  (I know a lot of people are looking forward to summer.  I'm not one of those people.) - - - - - - - I'm still using the red/neutral bonus HSTs as my leaders and enders, and the stacks are growing ever taller.  There are enough to see me thr...

Another Hobby?

I've been playing around with paints-- acrylic and watercolor-- off and on (mostly "off"), for the past several months.  Just for the fun of it, mind you!  No formal training, as they say.  I used to love drawing and coloring with crayons, markers, and color pencils, as a child.  I still like doodling, on occasion.  However, while I was fairly good at drawing-- for my age-- as a child, I'm afraid that my artistic skill stopped developing, at some point.  Sadly, I can no longer say I'm a decent artist for my age.  ;o) Well, if I can make something I'm not ashamed to hang in our own home, that'll be satisfaction enough.  I can only improve with practice, right?  And it's a very engrossing pastime... Pleasant, too, until you realize you've just messed something up royally and will have to try to fix it, somehow.    Donald has painted/drawn pictures as gifts for members of his family, before, but he's yet to make anything for us to ...
