Stickers, stickers and more stickers!

I've got two big comic cons approaching so it's that time again, when I sit down and cu out hundreds of stickers...

I Heart Comic Cons!

Last weekend was MCM Expo - my favourite of all the cons I attend every year. Here's how my table looked! Awesome little Cthulhu was made by the Omni-talented KaniKaniza!

Packing for the MCM Expo...

A bag of stickers so heavy it's actually hurting my arm to hold them up!

I know Sasquatch!

Hooray! My new book, I Know Sasquatch arrived yesterday! I'll be selling this little chronicle of the day I met Sasquatch in the woods near my house at MCM Expo and Thought Bubble this year. It is also available in my online store!

Upcoming Comic Cons!

I've got a few comic cons left for this year and I should also have a few new books for them too.

Bristol Comic and Zine Fair - a small one day zine fair on the 23rd of September. I've never done this one before so hopefully it'll be a nice little fair!

MCM Expo - I'll be in the Comic Village again this October for more fun and frolics!

Thought Bubble - There's an awesome line-up of creators at TB this year - I cannot wait!

Hope to see you all at one of these!

Too much papers! Not enough hiding plants!

Well, after drawing a book a month since January, sometimes a couple overlapping, I've finally gotten quite ill. I think my body has finally gotten fed up of me waving away people's suggestions to "take a break!" and basically decided to learn me a lesson. Sickness and exhaustion aside, I'm still having a great time with all the books I'm drawing. Even though I STILL can't say anything about the books I'm working on for an American publisher, I can say that I'm really REALLY excited about the series; the covers are being designed at the moment and it's suddenly made everything a bit more real! There should hopefully be some excitement involved with the books next year when they are released. When I can finally talk about them, I you wont be able to shut me up.
I'm also very close to finishing my 6th book for Carlton, the awesome publishers that I drew all the single colour line art for 4 activity books last year. I'm particluarly excited about this book and I'm doing all of the artwork, including all of the colour pages. It's a really nice lttle book and I'm enjoying using a different kind of technique for the colour stuff; hopefully I can post a sneak peek over the next week or so!
I'm gearing up for the MCM Expo at the weekend, for which I'm hoping I'll at least be able to stand up for. Apologies if I spread any of my germs to anyone; I'm overdosing on Vitamin C and as many cold and flu medicines as my body can handle!

Bristol Comic Expo!

This weekend will see me exhibiting at the Bristol Comic Expo along with a barrage of other talented creators. You'll be able to buy goodies from me as well as my arty fiends James Stayte and Mark Pearce - their table will be heaving with goods, much like a salmon heaves with eggs before laying time.
Come and pick up a couple of packs of my trading prints too; there are 10 rare cards to collect like the one above; see if you can get them all!

Trading Prints!

A while ago I made a set of trading cards featuring 50 characters; I will now be selling packs of trading PRINTS at my upcoming cons! The prints are a very cute format of 9cm x 13cm and there are 50 to collect plus 10 rare cards which are very sparse! Each pack contains 6 random prints and will be £1.50 per pack. I'm hoping people will like the idea - they make awesome little pieces of art and I've always loved the blind-packed collect-them-all format of things like this. I'd love to be able to make my own set of toys like M.U.S.C.L.E Men or Battle Beasts! Anyone remember Monster in my Pocket? :P

All Kinds Of Stuffs!

No-one can say that 2012 has been a dull year for me so far and it's only the end of March. I drew two kid's books over January and Feb and I've just finished the major story art for the first of four kid's books for an American publisher (20 pages with 48 separate full-colour panels in just over a week). That's pretty much a book a month; no wonder I'm so tired! XD I've also got some cons coming up so I need to get stuck in with making new prints, keyrings, stickers and hopefully, if I get time, a new small press book to go with my Lovecraft book. I have 2 weeks off of work now for Easter so let's hope I can cram in as much as possible! I've also got the next three books in the American series to do over the next few months as well as another activity book starting in mid-April. Come August, I'd have drawn 7 children's books which is a huge accomplishment for me; I'd always hoped I'd get this far and being the pessimistic, under confident person I am, never thought I'd be able to do so much work alongside a part-time job. It's a good job I don't have much of a social life to go with all this! :P

From Beyond!

I've finally been able to make some progress on the new small press book I'm hoping to get done for cons coming up this May. It's going to be a H.P Lovecraft colouring and activity book! I'm having a whale of a time drawing it and I'll hopefully have it finished soon. In the meantime, here's a sneak peek at one of the pages!

Comic Con Bingo!

I'll be at the London Super Con this weekend and I'll be handing out this fun little freebie! I think this will work better at the MCM Expo but hopefully there's enough for people to be amused by! :P

The Colour Out Of Space colouring page!

One of new comics/activity books that will be out for next year's cons is a as-of-yet-untitled book based on H.P Lovecraft and his works. Above is the kind of thing you can expect to see in the book! I'll post a few more pages as and when they're done; keep an eye out in 2012 for the finished article! :P

MCM just gets better!

The MCM Expo was absolutely manic this year; I've never seen it so busy! I had a great time and met so many awesome people, new and con regulars. MCM definitely has the best atmosphere of most cons I attend through the year; thanks to all who made it amazing! Now follow some badly taken pictures:

Comic Con Frenzy #4: My Talented Fiends!

At the Expo this weekend I have a table next to my awesome betrothed-type-guy John-Paul Bove and our spiffing mate James Stayte (hey, that rhymed!). James and JP will be offering to draw sketches and colour them at the con, or you could just have a sketch or you could have a sketch you already have coloured. I think the first combination is the best. Not convinced? Look at these bad boys!

Awesome Spidey!

Awesome Optimus!

Even more awesome Link!

JP and James are discussing their prices, but for a fantastic piece of original art AND the chance to have it coloured and printed out then and there as a high quality print is too good to miss. They're lovely guys to boot and will no doubt keep you entertained during your stay. Do come have a look!

Comic Con Frenzy #3: Tea Time!

At the MCM Expo in May, I really underestimated just how much most people like tea and think it's a spiffing beverage. My tea prints flew off the table and I had to watch people's faces drop as they gleefully oggled the (very tatty) display copy and then told them there were none left. This year I'm prepared: I have small prints, large prints, badges and key rings. Hopefully that should be enough! I am thinking of doing some stickers too maybe...

Comic Con Frenzy #2: Monster Gubbins!

I've been working on a new comic for the aforementioned cons, Monster Gubbins! MG is a small activity/comic book and no less than 10 minutes ago, a box of them turned up from the awesome folk at Inky Little Fingers. The books look great (better than my terrible photos) and I would highly recommended ILF for getting books made; a lot of other small pressers have told me how good they are and I wasn't disappointed!

I'll be selling MG next week at MCM and each copy wil come with 4 prints and a sticker. Come get some!

Comic Con Frenzy #1: Legend of Zelda Sticker Set!

Between kid's book work, I'm furiously getting work done for the MCM Expo and Thought Bubble which are drawing ever closer. Here's a cute sticker set I've made for both cons; have Link throw a Cucco at Tingle!

Goody Bags!

The MCM Expo is but a few short weeks away and I have 25 free goody bags to give away! All you have to do is print out the above voucher, present it to me with a florish at the con and I will hand over a goody bag. They all contain the same amount of goods but with slight variations so what you could get is anyones guess! I have no idea how well they'll do but be sure to find me as soon as you can at the show with your voucher to get one!

Sneaky Peeks #3!

I'm racing to get a small monster-based activity book finished for the MCM Expo at the end of the month. Just need to finish the cover and it can go off to the printers!

Research is Fun

If anyone knows whether Skynet has created time travel yet, please let me know - I'd love to be able to fiddle around and get some extra working hours in! It's been a hectic couple of weeks and it's only going to get busier over the next few months. I'm in the middle of the kid's books at the moment; 3 are roughed, 1 approved and most of the work done, 2 waiting to hear back on and currently waiting for details of the fourth book. It's a lot of fun so far and I hope the publishers are pleased with what I've done.

Hopefully in the next week I can finally reveal the awesome exhibition the collective I'm now part of are putting together for December. We're just working out some information details and then we can reveal all! Just to tease, I've been playing this game as research...

I've got 2 big cons coming up too which I hope to get some new work made for, it's just a matter of getting the time to do it all! :P
