if everyone stopped thinking

their god was better than everyone else's god the world would be a far far better place. if everyone stopped trying to put words in their god's mouth (you know tell everyone else what their only one and true god said when they themselves have NEVER heard their god say boo) the world would be a far far better place. if everyone followed the golden rule, do unto others, the world would be a far far better place.

but no one does. they think their god is better than the next god. they think unless you believe EXACTLY what they believe you will go to hell.

well people open your minds AND your hearts. we're all alike. there are good ones of us and bad ones. ones that need help and ones that can offer help. ones that are role models and ones that should be in jail.
no one is better than the next. no one god's is better than the next either
please remember your bible was written BY MAN FOR MAN. it was written in days gone by. in days where if you ate raw pig meat or shell fish you'd get sick (hence the no pig meat and no shell fish). and please remember this as well; let she or he who is without sin CAST THE FIRST STONE

Faith Groups Increasingly Lose Gay Rights Fights
Washington Post Staff Writer

Faith organizations and individuals who view homosexuality as sinful and refuse to provide services to gay people are losing a growing number of legal battles that they say are costing them their religious freedom.

The lawsuits have resulted from states and communities that have banned discrimination based on sexual orientation. Those laws have created a clash between the right to be free from discrimination and the right to freedom of religion, religious groups said, with faith losing. They point to what they say are ominous recent examples:

-- A Christian photographer was forced by the New Mexico Civil Rights Commission to pay $6,637 in attorney's costs after she refused to photograph a gay couple's commitment ceremony..............

Army Manual Promotes Christianity to Combat Epidemic of Suicides
Written by Jason Leopold

The U.S. Army’s suicide prevention manual advises military chaplains to promote “religiosity,” specifically Christianity, as a way to deter distraught soldiers from taking their own lives, according to an amended federal lawsuit filed last week against Secretary of Defense Robert Gates and the Department of Defense.

The 2008 Army Suicide Prevention Manual says “Chaplains... need to openly advocate behavioral health as a resource” to treat suicidal soldiers and instructs behavioral health providers “to openly advocate spirituality and religiosity as resiliency factors."..............

god does NOT hate fags

at least in california she doesn't! (of course anyone who believes in a god who doesn't like someone based on their sexuality alone, is sure not believing in an accepting god. i never understood that. how people's gods could be so racist, so sexist, so homophobic, so cruel, so so so so JUST LIKE THEM!!!!) is beyond me.

anyway, this is good news to californians. there are those who will not comply with the law. they should be punished.

Calif. Court Puts Gays' Care Over Doctors' Faith

(hey, what's up with that headline? it seems sooooooooo doctors are sooooooooooooooooo much more above 'the gays'??????????????)
Washington Post Staff Writer

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 18 -- Doctors may not refuse medical treatment to gay men or lesbians for religious reasons, the California Supreme Court unanimously ruled Monday.

The court ruled that physicians' constitutional right to the free exercise of religion does not exempt businesses that serve the public from following state law that prohibit discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.

That holds true, Justice Joyce L. Kennard wrote in the 18-page decision, "even if compliance poses an incidental conflict with the defendants' religious beliefs."

If a doctor wants to refuse a service because of religious beliefs, the court found, he or she must refuse all patients, or provide a doctor who can provide the service to everyone............

Banned From Church
Reviving an ancient practice, churches are exposing sinners and shunning those who won't repent.

By ALEXANDRA ALTER
On a quiet Sunday morning in June, as worshippers settled into the pews at Allen Baptist Church in southwestern Michigan, Pastor Jason Burrick grabbed his cellphone and dialed 911. When a dispatcher answered, the preacher said a former congregant was in the sanctuary. "And we need to, um, have her out A.S.A.P." Half an hour later, 71-year-old Karolyn Caskey, a church member for nearly 50 years who had taught Sunday school and regularly donated 10% of her pension, was led out by a state trooper and a county sheriff's officer. One held her purse and Bible. The other put her in handcuffs. (Listen to the 911 call)............

christian?

OR CALCULATED CHRISTIAN?

He’d rather talk about sex than God
George Bush built his career on his faith. But his key religious adviser tells of a different man behind the born-again image

Jacob Weisberg
One of the defining aspects of George W Bush’s presidency is his professed belief in God. Yet what really are his religious beliefs? The question, which seems central to understanding his presidency, never receives a satisfactory answer. Indeed, one religious figure close to him soon after his conversion was shocked to find that he talked about sex rather than theology and says that a lot of his faith seemed to be politically calculated.
Bush’s religion has often been described as evangelical. But unlike most other evangelicals, he blithely uses profanity and as governor of Texas he would play poker. He doesn’t pay tithes, he doesn’t try to convert others – one of the central obligations in most evangelical denominations. And he didn’t raise his daughters in the faith.
What Bush clearly does believe in is the personal, transforming and sustaining power of belief in God. Having a personal relationship with God, praying and reading the Bible daily were the tools he used to get control of his life more than 20 years ago.
They made it possible for him to control his drinking, keep his family together after his wife Laura threatened to leave him, manage his aggressive behaviour, cope with the burden of a heroic father and attain success. ...........

Pope Benedict: Native Americans "longing for Christianity"

by
Chris in Paris

............In a speech to Latin American and Caribbean bishops at the end of a visit to Brazil, the Pope said the Church had not imposed itself on the indigenous peoples of the Americas. They had welcomed the arrival of European priests at the time of the conquest as they were "silently longing" for Christianity, he said.................
