just what sort of blackmail photos IS jabba the flush holding?

i am so incensed. what happened to MY (OUR) america? why is it jabba the flush is making people bend over for him? someone (of the rethug variety) actually speaks the truth....jabba the flush is no more than a mere entertainer. then a day or two later, an apology? AN EFFING APOLOGY?

Limbaugh lashes back at Steele for 'entertainer' diss

David Edwards and Stephen C. Webster

UPDATE (at bottom): Steele apologizes to Limbaugh

Responding to criticism by recently-elected RNC chairman Michael Steele, talk show host Rush Limbaugh tore into the party's leader, contending that Steele is actually "not the head of the Republican Party," cautioning that the chairman is off to a "shaky start."

ABC News said that Limbaugh had "practically declared war" on the Republican leadership.

"Rush Limbaugh is an entertainer," Steele told D.L. Hughley during a Saturday broadcast of CNN's D.L. Hughley Breaks the News. "Rush Limbaugh's whole thing is entertainment. Yes, it is incendiary. Yes, it is ugly."..............

.............Update: Steele apologizes to Limbaugh

In an exclusive interview with Politico, RNC Chairman Michael Steele said he's sorry for his remarks about Republican talk show host Rush Limbaugh.

"My intent was not to go after Rush – I have enormous respect for Rush Limbaugh," Steele said. "I was maybe a little bit inarticulate. ... There was no attempt on my part to diminish his voice or his leadership."

"I went back at that tape and I realized words that I said weren’t what I was thinking," he said. "It was one of those things where I thinking I was saying one thing, and it came out differently. What I was trying to say was a lot of people ... want to make Rush the scapegoat, the bogeyman, and he’s not."................

Dem party chair: Steele's apology proves Limbaugh is leading force behind GOP

John Aravosis (DC)
Democratic National Committee chair, Governor Tim Kaine, just released the following statement:
Kaine Statement: Steele Apology to Rush Limbaugh Proves the Point:
Limbaugh is Leading Force behind Republican Party

Washington, DC – On the same day GOP Chairman Michael Steele apologized to conservative talk radio show host Rush Limbaugh for courageously challenging Limbaugh’s role as leader of the Republican Party calling his show “incendiary” and “ugly,” Governor Tim Kaine, chairman of the Democratic National Committee, issued the following statement calling on Republicans in Washington to stop following Rush Limbaugh’s lead:

“I was briefly encouraged by the courageous comments made my counterpart in the Republican Party over the weekend challenging Rush Limbaugh as the leader of the Republican Party and referring to his show as ‘incendiary’ and ‘ugly.’ However, Chairman Steele’s reversal this evening and his apology to Limbaugh proves the unfortunate point that Limbaugh is the leading force behind the Republican Party, its politics and its obstruction of President Obama’s agenda in Washington. Just this weekend, Rush Limbaugh repeated his claim that he is rooting for the President to fail. The last time Rush Limbaugh said he wanted the President to fail, virtually every single Republican in Congress followed his lead and voted against the President’s plan to create or save 3.5 million jobs................

Denver cops get T-shirts that mock DNC protesters
Denver's police union is facing criticism for printing a commemorative T-shirt that makes light of the use of violence by police, particularly in the wake of 154 arrests during the week of Democratic National Convention this past August.

"We get up early, to beat the crowds," the shirt reads, followed by "2008 DNC." The words flank a grinning police officer holding a baton and wearing a hat with a crossed-out number "68," presumably making reference to activist organization Recreate 68, which staged several anti-war demonstrations during the convention.

"The people of Denver were assured by the city that it would respect First Amendment rights during the DNC, and that that police officers were being trained to do so. The actions of police during the DNC, which involved numerous violations of people's right to freedom of speech and assembly, put the lie to those promises," said Recreate 68's Glenn Spagnuolo. "And now this appalling, tasteless t-shirt shows why........

question

why is it 'they' (by 'they' i mean some right wingers) insist the democrats and barack obama in particular had/have something to do with how people (protesters, etc) were treated at the dnc?

like barack obama has ANYTHING to do with the denver police and law enforcement agencies.

i have heard this wingnuts claim everything in the book. it's just ridiculous

Protesters denied access to attorneys, forced to march in leg shackles, ACLU charges
John Byrne
The ACLU issued a stinging rebuke to the Denver Police Department Wednesday, alleging that the department may have violated laws and constitutional rights of protesters arrested outside the Democratic National Convention.

In the letter, obtained by RAW STORY, the ACLU revealed that the police refused those arrested access to attorneys. Police did not let detainees use phones unless they posted their own bonds, and even failed to provide shoes, in one case marching a protester into court in bare feet and leg shackles, according the ACLU.

What's more, police are said to have tricked protesters into pleading guilty, by giving them the impression they had to plead guilty in order to post bond. This meant that no one was allowed to make a phone call unless they plead guilty, thus making it impossible for arrestees to even call a lawyer until admitting guilt.

Most ominously, the ACLU letter claims that protesters were told they would be "facing 'years' in jail for a conviction of a single particular charge."..........

effing ABSURD

these people are such .....i have NO words.................warmongers? death purveyors? evil-ists? hatemongers?

are we just going to blow up EVERYONE who doesn't agree with us (and israel)?

(i do NOT like anything about the government of iran. i do NOT support iran. i think they are evil as well. i just DO NOT WANT TO KILL THEM.)
Ads pushing Iran strike show Denver under missile attack from Boulder
John Byrne
A nonprofit lobbying organization aimed at strengthening Israel's image in the media quietly ran ads during the Democratic National Convention in which Boulder, Colorado launches missile attacks on Denver, in an attempt to bolster support for Israeli action against Iran.

Today, The Israel Project released a survey showing that 63 percent of Americans support an Israeli "surgical" strike on Iran's purported nuclear facilities, with 55 percent supporting America's participation in such a strike. The poll, however, did not note the organization's effort to lobby those being polled.

The Boulder attack ad shows a map of Denver being hit by flaming missiles, then an image of Israel being hit by the same weapons. It then displays an image of Iran, followed by ominous missile launches, a photograph of a man with a black hood over his face, Iran's president, and a silhouetted traveler with a suitcase.......

more evidence of fair

and more evidence of balanced. we'll have to wait to see how much of the rnc (and what parts) faux 'news' airs

fair and balanced my big fat ass

Fox News aired two minutes of Democratic keynote address, discussed Ayers instead

In its August 26 coverage of the second night of the Democratic National Convention, Fox News aired just over two minutes of former Virginia Gov. Mark Warner's nearly 20-minute keynote address to the convention. Rather than air Warner's entire speech, Fox News cut to commercial, then Fox News host Alan Colmes stated, "In other election news, an independent group supporting John McCain released an ad last week attacking [Sen.] Barack Obama's ties to former Weather Underground leader Bill Ayers," and aired an ad from the Obama campaign responding to the independent ad. Colmes and co-host Sean Hannity then interviewed former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who is supporting Sen. John McCain.

In contrast, both MSNBC and CNN aired the entirety of Warner's address.........

ABC Reporter Arrested in Denver Taking Pictures of Senators, Big Donors

Asa Eslocker Was Investigating the Role of Lobbyists and Top Donors at the Convention

By BRIAN ROSS

DENVER -- Police in Denver arrested an ABC News producer today as he and a camera crew were attempting to take pictures on a public sidewalk of Democratic senators and VIP donors leaving a private meeting at the Brown Palace Hotel.

Police on the scene refused to tell ABC lawyers the charges against the producer, Asa Eslocker, who works with the ABC News investigative unit.

A cigar-smoking Denver police sergeant, accompanied by a team of five other officers, first put his hands on Eslocker's neck, then twisted the producer's arm behind him to put on handcuffs.

A police official later told lawyers for ABC News that Eslocker is being charged with trespass, interference, and failure to follow a lawful order. He also said the arrest followed a signed complaint from the Brown Palace Hotel.

Eslocker was put in handcuffs and loaded in the back of a police van which headed for a nearby police station.

Video taken at the scene shows a man, wearing the uniform of a Boulder County sheriff, ordering Eslocker off the sidewalk in front of the hotel, to the side of the entrance.

The sheriff's officer is seen telling Eslocker the sidewalk is owned by the hotel. Later, he is seen pushing Eslocker off the sidewalk into oncoming traffic, forcing him to the other side of the street........

Obama nominated by Iraqi war vet and Republican

Kevin Flynn
Democrats chose a lifelong Republican and Iraqi war veteran from Florida to place the name of Barack Obama into nomination for president this afternoon.

The move highlights the Democrats’ growing to the war and attempt to appeal to national security voters.

“I’ve seen war up close not as a political slogan or a think tank theory,” said Michael Wilson, an Air Force veteran.

“America needs a president who has the strength and wisdom and courage to talk with our enemies and consult with our allies,” Wilson said to thunderous cheers from an only half-filled Pepsi Center..........

our own griff

gave THEM a chance, but they didn't want to take it. they just want to riot (and what she REALLY meant to say was they just want to tear people limb from limb. out for blood and guts and NOTHING else will satisfy them).
please note griff (don't you just LOVE that name? griff jenkins, SUPERHERO) when griff initially starts to speak, he calls the crowd "it"

i must say that griff dude is one HELL of a steamin' pile.

Fox reporter humiliated at Denver march

Griff Jenkins, a Fox Television correspondent, was waiting with a microphone for a crowd of demonstrators on a Denver street today, hoping to catch signs of a breakup of the herd of cats known as the American Left.

The crowd came ten, twelve abreast up the street. One group held up a banner saying No War On Iran. Chanting was happening. Griff was casting the scene as a discontented, perhaps unstable mob out to oppose some things, maybe defend Hillary ( Fox's new g/f), or to assault whatever nefarious scheme the Party has in store. Whatever it was, Griff was Going In.

I've only seen the clip once, so I'm sure I didn't get it totally right, but I know funny. And it is hilarious.

lilly ledbetter is speaking at the dnc!

I just got some exciting news. Next week, I'm going to be speaking about our fight for fair pay for women to millions of people around the country — and even around the world.
Tuesday night, at approximately 9:00 p.m. Eastern, I'm scheduled to speak at the Democratic National Convention.
The movement in support of the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act is catching on — but we still need your help. Please spread the word about my appearance at the convention by
sending an eCard to your friends, family, and co-workers today.
The convention is an incredible forum to reach a wide variety of people. I'm not a political person, and I won't be making an endorsement for President. But this issue isn't about politics. It's about fairness.
Along with my friends at the National Women's Law Center, I've been working hard to get both Republican and Democratic legislators on board with the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. And
we're always looking for more support from fair-minded people across the country — which is why this opportunity to reach out to such a large audience is so exciting.
It's been more than a year now since the Supreme Court, in a 5-4 decision written by Justice Alito, ruled that even though I was paid less than my male co-workers for nearly two decades, I wasn't entitled to sue for pay discrimination. If I've learned anything in that time, it’s that we can’t do this alone. In these hard financial times, we need all the help we can get to ensure that our daughters and granddaughters have a shot at a fair workplace and a better future, and to send a message that our anti-discrimination laws mean what they say.
Thanks again for everything you’ve already done to help us in this struggle.
Best,
Lilly Ledbetter
P.S. If you haven't already, please
write to your Senators and urge them to pass the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act.

come on now

how can you NOT know how many houses you own? if your last name isn't hemsley YOU SHOULD EFFING KNOW.

Houses Add Up to A Snag for McCain

Campaign Has Cast Obama as Elitist

Washington Post Staff Writers
Sen. John McCain's inability to recall the number of homes he owns during an interview yesterday jeopardized his campaign's carefully constructed strategy to frame Democratic rival Barack Obama as an out-of-touch elitist and inspired a round of attacks that once again ratcheted up the negative tone of the race for the White House.

A week dominated by vice presidential speculation and the run-up to the Democratic National Convention was quickly overtaken by the McCain miscue. In an interview with Politico.com, the presumptive Republican nominee was asked how many houses he and his wife, Cindy, heir to a beer distributorship, owned.

"I think -- I'll have my staff get to you," McCain replied. "It's condominiums where -- I'll have them get to you."..........

John McCain isn't just a presidential candidate. He's a veritable bling-master, worthy of an "MTV Cribs" episode, those televised tours of brazenly gilded homes led by celebrity owners like 50 Cent, Hulk Hogan and Bow Wow.

Except that the good senator may trump them all. His family's real estate holdings are so plentiful that not even McCain is sure of the number.............

so THIS is what all that profit is about

controlling our nation (and it's elections) of course! well we knew it all along, now we have the proof.

we're NOT going to hear (from msm) anything THEY (exxon/mobil) don't want us to hear. BUT not to worry, we STILL (for the time being that is) have access to the truth

ExxonMobil owns the media’s convention coverage.»

As ThinkProgress noted yesterday, ExxonMobil is sponsoring CNN’s coverage of both the Democratic and Republican National Conventions. We also noted that CBS’s political coverage is sponsored by ExxonMobil. Now, it appears that National Journal has also opened its doors to Big Oil sponsorship, announcing on its website that its coverage of the 2008 conventions will be “presented by ExxonMobil”:

IT'S NOT CLOSE. YOU FREAKING LOST THE NOMINATION, WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?Good God. What is wrong with her? The Clintons and their campaign staff don't give a damn that they are now hurting our electoral chances in the fall against McCain and against the Republicans in Congress. Their campaign isn't happening in some vacuum, and they know it. Our candidates can't fundraise because of her. Obama can't focus on McCain because of her. Obama is wasting money on HER, rather than spending it on McCain, because of her. EMILY's List, and AFSCME, and the American Federation of Teachers and others are wasting their members' money on her now-failed race - money that they could be spending, should be spending, on other real races, races that haven't already lost. She can't win, the math says she lost the nomination, but she doesn't give a damn. She's going to stay in the race like some spoiled hateful egotistical brat. Why is the media even covering her? The only stories that should be written about Hillary Clinton is how much damage she's causing our party. How she's hurting fundraising at the DNC - they even admitted it, they're not raising the money they need to fight John McCain because of this woman. Why don't you write some stories about how she is hurting our candidates who can't fundraise because of her? How she has forced EMILY's List and AFSCME and the AFT to waste their money because of her. How she has caused a civil war in the Netroots. Five months ago we all felt that we had 3 great candidates. Now, far too many of us loathe Hillary Clinton, and she has done her racist best to ensure that her supporters can't stand Barack Obama either..........

Rush Limbaugh Calling For Riots In Denver
Talk Show Host Wants America To See Actions Of 'Far Left'

DENVER -- Talk show host Rush Limbaugh is sparking controversy again after he made comments calling for riots in Denver during the Democratic National Convention this summer.
He said the riots would ensure a Democrat is not elected as president, and his listeners have a responsibility to make sure it happens.
"Riots in Denver, the Democrat Convention would see to it that we don't elect Democrats," Limbaugh said during Wednesday's radio broadcast. He then went on to say that's the best thing that could happen to the country. Limbaugh cited Al Sharpton, saying the Barack Obama supporter threatened to superdelegates that "there's going to be trouble" if the presidency is taken from Obama.
Several callers called in to the radio show to denounce Limbaugh's comments, when he later stated, "I am not inspiring or inciting riots, I am dreaming of riots in Denver."
Limbaugh said with massive riots in Denver, which he called "Operation Chaos," the people on the far left would look bad..........
