Alog - "Duck-Rabbit" (2001)

To  celebrate Norwegian's duo Alog's new release called "Unemployed" here is their album from 2001 called "Duck-Rabbit". Heavily influenced by the likes of Biosphere or Deathprod the music is elaborated, intense and organic, electronic and yet terribly human.

The marvellously-named "As Complicated And As Beautiful As Always" features stunning distortion and feedback, and the album ends with the charming John Fahey-like faux-naive guitar of "Drunk DJ's", departing with quiet Scandinavian grace.

Mike Cooper - "Distant Songs Of Madmen" (2011)

Mike Cooper has been a central figure in UK folk, blues, improvisation and about as many other movements as you care to mention - he's truly post-everything.

"I find most 'folk' singers, folk clubs and festivals are incredibly conservative these days and my wish is that a niche might be found in there for some forward musical movement and thinking to bring itself into the 21st century and that this c.d. might be a small contribution toward that end."

Joe McPhee - "As Serious As Your Life" (1996)

"As Serious as Your Life" is a solo recording wherein multi-instrumentalist Joe McPhee deeply explores various facets and territories in the music. He begins with a sad, heartfelt tribute on pocket cornet to the late Miles Davis and includes homages to musicians from Sun Ra to Coltrane to Conlon Nancarrow. Arguably the finest of his solo recordings and highly recommended !
