Crafty Emotions

Crafty Emotions

Hi There!

We have an anniversary card
from Hazel Harler today and
again, not a hint of you know
when in sight!

So sit back and prepare to
enjoy................

"Hi everyone, today I have an Anniversary
card to share with you.

I used this lovely Crafty Emotions bird stamp set.

I stamped the two birds onto white card
 using black Archival ink.

I used watercolour paints to colour the background.

The birds were masked before I used a stencil
 and picked raspberry distress ink
on the background.

I used some watercolour paint on the edges
and let it run a little then I added some
blue splatters.

I removed the masks and coloured the birds
with the watercolour paints.

The front of a card blank was stencilled with
picked raspberry distress ink

I stamped, painted and cut out the
 Honey Doo flowers and flourish.

I glued the topper to the card blank and
added some ribbon, the flowers and
some blue gems to the centre of the flowers."

Beautiful card Hazel, thank you
very much

The flowers give the card that
little bit of a lift from ordinary
to interesting, don't you think?

Gifted

Gifted

Hi Everyone!

Hope you are sitting
comfortably and ready for
the first of this week's
fantastic makes

Today Hazel Harler is
going to show us how to
manipulate a die so you
only cut part of it......
If that doesn't make sense
it will do, just read on.....

"My latest project is a pop up gift card holder,
I made one for a birthday but they are a great idea
for Christmas - it'll be here before we know it........

I used a piece of card 12" x 6",
the card was scored down the middle and
an inch each side of the middle.

You can also use a card blank,
just score 1" each side of the fold.

No automatic alt text available.

To cut a slot for the gift card I folded
the card in half and used only part of a die.

No automatic alt text available.

As well as cutting the slot I used the
die to cut out a whole piece.

No automatic alt text available.

Put some glue either side fo the slot,
after I put the card together I realised
that I should have put a line of glue just on
the edge of the folds to stop the gift card
 going all the way through.

The finished fold.

No automatic alt text available.

I used a Honey Doo Crafts stamp set to
stamp some flowers onto white card.

I coloured some card by putting some
Distress Oxide onto a craft mat,
spraying it with water and smooshing
the card through the ink.

No automatic alt text available.

I used a stencil with worn lipstick Distress Oxide
 - I'm very sorry about the state of my stencil,
it's very old and been used a lot.

I cut the card into three and stamped the
Honey Doo flowers, I used a water brush and
Distress Oxide to colour the flowers

No automatic alt text available.

I used double sided tape to stick the
card and the die cut to the inside of
the card blank.

I cut out the flowers and coloured them
and some ribbon with Distress Oxide ink.

I added the ribbon and glued the flowers
to the card, I finished the flowers off with
 some dewdrops in their centres.

The last thing to do was to put
the gift card into the slot."

Supplies:

Card 12" x 6" or a card blank.
Die.
Honey Doo Craft stamps.
Distress Oxide.
Stencil.
Archival ink for stamping.
Ribbon.
Wet glue.
Double sided tape.
Dew Drops or gems.
Sentiment stamp.

Hazel that is a lovely
Gift Card Holder and
thank you for showing how
to die cut a slot.

I really am hopeless when it
comes to die cutting just a a
little of the die - it always seems
so simple and having followed
Hazel's pictures I have
actually managed it........
There's hope for all of us yet!

'Till tomorrow

Van Gogh

Van Gogh

Hi There!

We continue our celebration
of Van Gogh today with
Louise Thomson, who has
been inspired by the Sunflowers
.........indeed, thanks to the
art posters in our classrooms
we were all probably
influenced by them.....

"It's quite a tall order to try
and replicate the style of one of
the world's most recognised artists,
but when I think van Gogh,
I think sunflowers,
which just so happen to be
one of my favourite flowers. So...

I made a background using distress oxides

Added some stencilling

And stamped my own version of sunflowers,
which I think are actually daisies from
 a PaperArtsy set.

Some fresco paint helped bring out the
sunflower look a little more.

I also added some gold alchemy wax
around the edge as though to frame it.

I stamped parts of a honeydoo stamp
to give it a bit of greenery.

Then to help the flowers stand out,
I blended green distress ink
 around them.

Using the stencil again I added texture
paste and once dry I guilded it using
alchemy wax.

I have been tempted many times to
start an art journal and so decided to
make this the front cover of one.

I just stitched together a wadge of
thick white paper and mounted my own
 'Van Gogh' to the front.

Who knows, maybe you'll be seeing some
art journal pages from me shortly?!"

Materials:

Thank you Louise, super project
and what a good idea to make
your own art journal........

Think we would all be
interested to see some
art journal pages.....

Fond Farewell

Fond Farewell

Hallo Everyone,

Our subject today is the
final farewell and probably
the hardest one to say

Craftyfield is here with
a beautifully simple card

"Bereavement is one of these difficult
card occasions and it is best
to be prepared with a ready made card.

Failing that, this quick and easy CAS
card should come in handy if you
need a Sympathy card at short notice.

For subject matters, I err on the side
of caution and only use flowers,
these are not times to try out
 the weird, funny or grungy...

I selected this beautiful flower, using
only the one stem because a single
bloom has a poignancy that a
(cheerful) bouquet doesn't.

This design will work with pretty much
any flowers, including all the lovely
Honeydoo flower stamps.

For a quick card and a CAS design
dot the cardstock with paints
and run a palette knife or gift card
(used up of course!) to spread the paint.

No need to fuss but I tried to keep
the surface smooth since I intended
 to stamp on top.

The Fresco paints I used dry quickly and
do not buckle the card if applied
 sparingly as I did.

I inked the flower in pink first and
added some violet towards the
bottom of the flower.

With the smaller pads this mixing colours
on the stamp is a lot easier than with the
regular Archival pads!

Because the Fresco paints are matt
there's no need to heat set the inks,
but to make sure everything is dry
before handling a quick blast with the
heat gun is a good idea.

Before sticking to my base card I
die-cut the cardstock with a simple
 rectangular shape.

As I finished the card, I got commissioned
to make a tag to for a remembrance,
which needed to be water resistant,
since it would be outside (on a flower pot).

I used the same Archival inks and against
the white you get a better idea of how
deep and vibrant the colours are.

After stamping, I applied gel medium on
both sides and now my tag will be waterproof.

Supplies:

Thank you Craftyfield
for a beautiful project
and a very handy tip
for waterproofing a
tag
