What Have I Been Up To?

Personally, I have been dealing with treatment for Major Depression Disorder and ADD. After many years of denial. Meds and therapy are helping. A lot. Please don't be dumb like me - go get help if you even think you need it.

Hobby-wise, I have been into Gaslands and KillTeam lately. Lots of terrain painted, and some more cars. Painted up the starter box for KillTeam for my sons, so a few Primaris Reaver Space Marines and some Tau Fire Warriors. Working on my own team of Genestealer Cultists because I have wanted to play them since they first appeared in White Dwarf in 1989 or so. Played some Team Yankee, and some Flames of War v.4. Have almost completed a Starfinder campaign (Against the Aeon Throne AP) that I am GMing. I play in an online Starfinder game, too. Played a big OGRE game in November. Finished up a couple of airships, but need to build stands for them. Though that has been designed.

Little Tiny Troopers (6mm OGRE Infantry)

I finally got a bit of work done on a bunch of little guys. I still have three stands (9 figures) to finish off, but that's just waiting for some glue to dry. These are all the plastic battle-suited infantry from the new box set 1 of OGRE Miniatures. I may eventually get another box set so that I can do stands of two or single figures to model attrition, but for now I plan to use casualty caps. I'd also like to get some to set up as Heavy Weapons squads, but I will need some sort of weapon for that...

I painted them up as members of a NeoSoviet Paneuropean Motor Rifle Division. They have GEV-PCs to go with them, and some armour in the form of Heavy Tanks and Mobile Howitzers. I think I have already posted photos of those. If not, I can always dig them out and snap a few.

I intentionally modeled each cluster of squads on different sorts of terrain, just for fun. The one group that hasn't been done is the urban set, because I was waiting for the glue to dry on the rubble. The hexes I used to base them are 1" across the flats, IIRC. I got them from Litko, 3mm thick. I use the same for most of the smaller vehicles.

"Swampy" - (3x3 bases)
I am going to put some gloss on the water once the dullcote dries

Plains/Grassland/Forest - generic (5x3 bases)

"Farm" I modeled little crop rows (3x3 bases)
Also, you can see a piece of Frostgrave terrain (the grate)

"Urban" (3x3 bases)
Once the glue dries on the rubble, a quick bit of paint on it and these nine will be done as well.

I left a bit of space in white on the backs of the bases to make notes like unit, Attack Strength, Range, Defense Strength, and Move. I will add those when my printer decides to act right again.

Combine LGEVs

I've been sitting on these for years, and finally just got around to doing them! These are 1:285 scale (6mm) Light GEVs for OGRE Miniatures, manufactured by Ral Partha for Steve Jackson Games. This unit of seven is painted to tie in with the existing seven GEVs I already have painted (see last photo). Of course, when I took the comparison photo, I realized I had forgotten to add the decals to the LGEVs! So I will have to go back and do that. But otherwise, these are finished.

I really did mean to put them at varying heights and angles.
No, really. I did. I thought it made them look more like highly maneuverable
light armoured units.

A Note on the OGRE vehicles

Really quick - an old friend of mine, Tim Harrison '94, asked me about how I did the numbers.

   I cheated.

6mm (1:285 if you prefer) Micro Armour decals. These are German turret numbers. I also use 1:300 scale aircraft decals for some national markers, like the Combine Canadian GEV company or the Paneuropean Swedish Armour company I have painted.

Speaking of the Canadians, I finally have their Light GEV elements on the paint table. I think I am going to do them as a single larger squadron of six, maybe. I have seven right now. I might paint the last one up as a scout/observer for the 301st Armour (that's the black with yellow group).

New OGRE units almost done

So this is part of what I have been trying to finish off. Six Combine Heavyy Tanks, a pair of Superheavies, and a trio/battery of Mobile Howitzers.

All painted to be part of the 301st Armoured, 1st Battalion. Heavy Tanks in Number 1 Company, Super heavy in Number 3 Company, and SP howitzers in Number 6 Company. I may one day fill in Number 2 Company with more Heavy and Number 4 Company with Light Tanks. Number 5 Company is Mechanized Infantry, of course. And that makes a nice Combined Arms Battalion design. It would be kinda cool to field an organized battalion.

Clear Coat still drying on these

But I thought I would share anyway. Please forgive the hasty and not too-well lit photos. I'm excited that I have been making progress on some projects.

A Paneuropean "Huscarl" (Mk. V) OGRE
(Steve Jackson Games, Plastic)

German, it calls itself "Das Schwarzeritter" - The Black Knight
Why? Because it's a massive unstoppable engine of war. It can call itself whatever it wants.

Another Paneuropean "Legionnaire", this one Neo-Soviet.
