Sympathy with Just Rite

Good Morning!

I hate to make sympathy cards,,,,,,,I like knowing that my loved one will receive a handmade card from me at a difficult moment,,,,,but I dislike what they stand for. sigh.

Unfortunately, there's been a death in the family of a dear friend. Sympathy card called for. Since I enjoyed the sketch this month over at the Justrite Friday Challenge  , I decided to go with that for my card.

Here's the sketch that we were to follow this challenge!

Here's my rendition of this great sketch.

I used the little bird house made from Squares Large as my focal point,,,,,,a border punch and lace as my scallop layer,,,,,,,,and a leafy branch cradling my sentiment as my banner. I tried to recreate the peaceful feeling of a birdhouse cradled in the branches of a tree for this card. I hope it brings some peace to my friend and her family.

I used a fabulous Justrite set called "Be Strong". It's so appropriate to so many situations and has several phrases of comfort in cases of illness and/or death,,,,,,,,as well as several support ribbons and frames.  I've used a phrase and a frame from that set.  Here's the stamp and the little bird house close up.

You can see the intricate frame that I've stamped on the green paper and cut out with Lacy Ovals. It's gorgeous!

Here's a pic of the little bird I fussy cut from the fabulous Webster's Papers digi papers,,,,,,,,

can you see the shimmer on that gorgeous ribbon? It's the Silky Crush Ribbon from May Arts bought from Really Reasonable Ribbon!  It's gorgeous,,,,,,,,,,silky, shimmery, and oh so soft! It makes fabulous bows! And it's OH SO reasonable!!!!!

Card Recipe:
Papers: Websters Papers Digi papers, Coordinations,

Ink: Versafine Sepia
dies: Spellbinders Squares Large, Lacy Ovals, Classic Ovals Large (some oldies but goodies!) and Foliage.

I hope you enjoyed the card,,,,,,,thanks for looking! You still have a few days to join the fun over at Justrite! (Link at the top!) So run on over there and link up your rendition of the sketch using Justrite Stamps!

The Saddest kind of card,,,,,

I think my least favorite card is the sympathy card. I love to give them because I want to let the recipient know my thoughts and prayers are with them. But I think they're just so sad to have to give, that I get no true pleasure from making them.

That said,,,,they are a necessity,,,,,,,,unfortunately. In life, there comes death,,,to everything there is a season,,,,and so occasionally, I must make one.

This particular card is for a lovely on-line friend (fake friends we always joke!) Unfortunately, her dear brother passed away recently. When I heard the news, of course, I started a sympathy card. I knew she was sitting shiva (the Jewish tradition of 7 days--sometimes 3, depending on the movement of Judaism--formal mourning in which loved ones come to call on the mourners.) and I wished so badly that I could be there for her in person.

I used DCWV paper (The Main street Stack) for this 5.5x5.5 card.I put one paper on the top portion, and another paper on the bottom portion. I used an EK success edge punch to punch the bottom of the top portion and lined above that with lace. A few nesties to cut out the sentiment, a stick pin, fancy gold corner embellishments, and some flowers, and it's done. Easy,,,,but not on the heart.

I hope you enjoyed, thanks for looking, and I sincerely hope that I have a happier card for you tomorrow!

Spellbinders Pendants

Thank you all for all your payers, but my dear friend, Betty, went to Heaven this past Saturday night. I will miss her more than she would ever know. I have many many good memories, and I cherish them.

I wanted to apologize for taking so long to come back and post,,,I was grieving, and really didn't feel much like talking.

But I am happy to be back with another card to share. This card is for Betty's daughter (whom I hope to meet soon). I just love how elegant the spellbinders pendant centers look here. I love the pendants, even if they ARE a pain to get out of the die :) Here, I've used only the centers, which are simple to get out of the die. Paper is DCWV, dark brown flourishes. So pretty! I couldn't help using a string of pearls to add to the elegance :) I also cut up a bling flourish and strung the parts across the card. A tiny prima nd some sticky pearls and bling add the finishing touches. Easy peasy!

Hope you enjoyed, and thanks for looking!!!
