It turns out that Iceland just happens to celebrate it's Independence Day on June 17, which happens to be my birthday. Iceland officially gained it's independence on this day in 1944 from Denmark. I'm going to remember this every year on my birthday.
Heidrun sent me this great card of Surtsey Island. The volcanic island began with an eruption in 1963, on the South coast of Iceland. Within 4 years, an island was born.
