Not Been Resting On My Laurels...

Work has been a case of bits and pieces lately, but at least it has been work.  There has been another one of these painted trinket boxes - Otis of course!

Complete with tasty fish lining.

Squirrel!

That always makes me laugh in the film Up - mainly because our dog is exactly the same when he sees a squirrel.  (Or a cat, or a rabbit, or a deer.....) He's not alone - I was asked to knit this little guy as a companion piece to go with a knitted Westie set I made last month.

I'm not sure he will be safe in his new home - I'm not sure if he is destined to be a playmate or lunch! I knitted this on thin needles, so he is very very small - about an inch and a half tall.

Finally feel like painting again - I got a fair amount done to this over the weekend.  I think one of my problems was the photos I was working from were not very clear - then I thought to put them on my Kindle and voila! Clear as day and much easier to see the contours of the horses.  I was not sure about buying my Kindle last year but now I would not be without it - never thought I would be using it to paint from though!  Hopefully this painting will be completed over the next couple of days as I am wanting to start something else.

Squirrel!

Who doesn't love it when the dogs in the film 'Up' get distracted by a 'squirrel!'  Luckily, mine hasn't taken much notice of this one.  This is another creature to be used for animation and is approximately 3 inches tall.  The acorn can be removed.  Apologies for the rubbish picture quality, early mornings do not agree with my camera!

After being on show at the local Art Society exhibition, these three paintings have been sold.


I am surprised that both the jellyfish paintings sold quickly - I thought they might be a bit 'left-field'. Perhaps I should do more of this kind of work!


The three paintings that did not sell will now go in to my Etsy shop - perhaps they will find a home soon too!

I have been working on a private commission lately, but that is nearing completion - another couple of days should do it. After which, I shall be free for further commissions or to get on with my own choice of subject. Nutcase!

We saw this little squirrel on Boston Common last year. He was so tame we were able to get a photo from about three feet away while he watched us, nibbling on a nut.

I have painted this in watercolours with small touches of black ink & Chinese white paint. It was wonderful to take the time to paint a delicate watercolour again - it feels like so long since I have done this!
