New Amazonite Necklace

This necklace features a style I've done several times over the past two years.  I start with a good sized briolette.  I secure the top with sterling silver wire and begin stacking gems and pearls on top.  It's a fun design to execute.

This particular piece starts with an amazonite briolette.  I topped it with white keshi pearls,turquoise rounds, apatite rounds and Peruvian opal rondelles.  I like this style best when hanging from sterling snake chain.

Aqua Blues . The Necklace

These colors are so reminiscent of the ocean and all things tropical. I enjoy making these free-form wire wrapped elements, but the real fun is in composing the collection of drops.

Here, I've used a large rondelle of chrysocolla, an abalone rectangle, a faceted amazonite rectangle, little teal coin pearls and a beautiful glass leaf. You see an assortment of other little goodies as well -- turquoise, sterling silver beads and a crystal.

All of the silver has been oxidized and hand sanded to reveal just a bit of the shiny silver. This necklace is for sale in my etsy shop.

Clusters!

I recently created a series of pendants using some of my larger beads. Finding new ways to use these larger components has been a challenge for me. Here are the latest creations in this voyage of discovery.

I love the minty blue-green of amazonite. This large bead is top-drilled and is softly faceted. The cluster above is made up of freshwater pearls, Peruvian opals, apatite rounds and white cupped keshi pearls.
The deep pink stone is a sapphire --- yes, they come in many colors besides blue. I have topped it with golden freshwater pearls, garnets, smooth ruby rondelles and citrine rondelles. The red and gold color combination has a regal feel.

Aqua Blues Necklace

One of my newest creations uses the free-form wire wrapping technique I learned in a class last year with Nina Bagley. I put together an eclectic cluster of beads to feature as the "pendant" part of this necklace. Included are chrysocolla, amazonite, abalone, crystal, freshwater pearls and a glass leaf. All in the ocean inspired colors of aqua blue and green. All of the silver is sterling and I oxidized it for a slightly distressed look. I've added one small turquoise bead at the clasp end for a finished look to the necklace.

Dragonfly Embrace

This is my latest creation using my recent purchases from Vintaj, a company offering a wide variety of brass elements for jewelry design.

A large teardrop shaped pendant of blue-green amazonite is embraced by a brass dragonfly ... hanging on for dear life!

A brass chain holds this pendant and is asymmetrically adorned with coordinating glass beads and and brass beads. This 19" (48 cm) necklace ends in a simple spiral clasp. The pendant measures 2" long by 1" wide (5.1 cm x 2.6 cm). This includes the small beaded drop hanging from its tail.
