Card Front Builder Blocks Christmas Card

This card started life as experimentation with my new pot of Silver Embossing Paste (available on 3 January in the new Occasions Catalogue).

I cut Window Sheet stencils with dies in the Card Front Builder set.  Not very happy with my silver results, I repeated the process (using the same stencils) with the Shimmery White Embossing Paste to check the differences.

The Silver Embossing Paste is much runnier than either of the other two pastes and for this reason, I had less control of the paste and it kept squeezing its way under the stencil - to disastrous effect (as you'll see the photo below).

I then tried out the Silver paste with one of the Pattern Party Decorative Masks and had a much better result - perhaps because those stencils are little thicker and sturdier than my home made one and also have smaller "open" areas.  I used that test in this card.

When I used the Shimmery White Embossing Paste with my home made stencils, the seepage was very limited and easy to clean up.  There were originally smudged areas on the reindeer in the corner between the head and horns, between the hind legs and near the stomach. They looked very much like the area on the left of the tree.  Before the paste was completely dry, I gently scraped away the offending bits with the end of my Paper-Piercing tool and then finished the cleaning process with a barely damp small brush.

Thank you for visiting.

PS  I wish you all the joys of the season!

Swirly Metallic Snowflake Christmas Card

Having made the background piece while testing out the Silver Embossing paste(new in the 2018 Occasions Catalogue), I was left with the dilemma of what to do with it!  My thanks to Peggy Noe at Prettypapercards who inspired me with her Pretty Tags.

An elegant black, cream and silver Christmas card

To the Basic Black base card I added a layer of Very Vanilla cut with the Card Front Builder dies.  I layered a piece of Vellum on top of the embossed piece along with half of a Foil Snowflake embellishment, a couple of flourishes cut with one of the Swirly Snowflake dies, two of the snowflakes from the Starlight dies (one in Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper and one in Silver Foil) and two Leaves cut from either Silver or Copper Foil Sheet with the Leaf Punch.

The Silver Embossing Paste is perfect for stunning backgrounds

I also added a Silver Foil Sheet star to the card front that I cut with one of the Ready For Christmas dies.  And, of course, there's the faceted gem in the centre of the snowflakes.

The Merry Music paper provides the perfect backdrop for the glamour of the bling and silver in this Christmas card

I liked the outcome so much that I made a dozen more for our staff members, using pieces of the Merry Music Designer Series Paper instead of the home made embossed background.

Crazy Crafters Blog Hop with Special Guest Su Mohr

Click to visit Su's blog
Welcome to the Crazy Crafters' Blog Hop with our Special Guest stamper, Su Mohr - we are thrilled to have Su join us this month and so excited to CASE (Copy And Selectively Edit) any project that has been created by her.

Whether you are starting the blog hop here at my blog, Stephanie Fischer - The Crafty Thinker, or have come from the person before me, be sure to click on the person listed under me further down the page to continue your journey on this blog hop.

There is so much inspiration in Su's blog that I had trouble choosing a project but, since I still need more Christmas cards, I chose this gorgeous card.  I really like the clever way that Su has used the Ruffled Textured Embossing folder for snow drifts!

Snow drifts using the Ruffled Embossing Folder for a simple Christmas card
I maintained the basic card but simplified a little: fewer trees, a mainly white colour scheme, no embellishments.  I have to say, it looks better in person than in the photograph!

The greeting, from the Starlight stamp set, is stamped onto a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock that I embossed and then hand cut.  The trees are cut from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper with dies from the Card Front Builder set.

Thanks for following our blog hop. Remember that currently you are at my blog - Stephanie Fischer - so click on the next name in the list to ensure that you don't miss out of seeing any of the blogs and the amazing inspiration they contain.

When the easel card is closed, the card front appears to be a fairly normal snowy Christmas card scene

I also used the Card Front Builder dies for the starry sky and the trees and the Christmas Staircase dies for the pine branches and bows inside the card.
