Aerial & Bungee

Please see age restrictions below.

Get ready for a glorious gigglefest as you channel your inner child!

Aerial yoga incorporates silk hammocks into a traditional yoga class to raise your attitude to a whole new altitude. Bungee classes have you strapped into a harness then hooked to a bungee cord to make the class anti-gravity.  It is just downright fun and will make you laugh like a child again!  All Aerial and Bungee classes are included in yoga class passes.

Yoga Power offers an array of classes making aerial yoga and bungee fitness suitable for everyone from beginners to advanced yogis.  While your body is working towards fitness, the  hammocks and bungees support half your body weight making it 50% easier than normal yoga. Once you feel you are stronger in your practice, you are then able to begin taking more of the weight on to your own body rather than relying solely on the hammock's assistance.

The hammock is a great and safe way to learn balancing poses by having something to hold on to for support.  In traditional yoga classes on the floor, only a small number of students are able to do advanced poses, such as scorpion or handstand, which are a result of many years of yoga practice, dedication and endurance. The beauty of this style of yoga is 95% of students can do these advanced poses in the hammock in their first or second class! Aerial yoga is the easiest, most effective tool to use while building up the strength, stamina and endurance to progress towards a standing floor pose if that is what you are aiming for.  If you have a fear of falling out of an aerial hammock, try bungee where you can't hit the floor.

Please pre-register online for your aerial yoga class.  Arrive 15 minutes before the class start time to get your hammock adjusted to your height.  No late arrivals because it takes time to set up hammocks  in aerial and the harnesses in bungee.  It is a major distraction to the instructor and other class members.  Our suspension classes usually sell out so we remind you of our cancellation policy outlined on our FAQ page

Here are guidelines to make your aerial and bungee class more enjoyable:

  • Absolutely no jewelry or fitness watches. No exceptions!!! We recommend that you don't even wear jewelry to the studio.
  • There is no weight limit for Aerial Yoga, but there is for Bungee. The maximum is 280lbs.
  • DO NOT eat a meal 2 hours prior to class! Eating makes suspension classes very uncomfortable.
  • You MUST be weighed to take a bungee class. It is imperative that we have an accurate number of bungee cords on each client based on your weight.
  • If you refuse to be weighed, you will not be allowed in to a bungee class.
  • You do not need to be weighed to take an aerial class.
  • You must have a yoga mat under your aerial hammock so bring yours along.  If not, you can rent one for $1 plus tax.
  • You do not need a mat for bungee classes.
  • Put bandaids over piercings.
  • No perfumes.
  • Wear shirts with sleeves that cover armpits so the fabric won't chafe your skin.
  • Tie up long hair but don't use sharp hair clips that may tear the silks.
  • Remove face makeup.
  • We recommend to drink water during class. Bring your own water bottle or select from our fine waters.
  • DO NOT drink sweet sports drinks, especially in Bungee.
  • A towel may be helpful to wipe your hands if needed.
  • Cotton or cotton blend fabric is best (non-slippery), especially in bungee.  Slick material allows the harness ride up which is very uncomfortable.
  • Wear fitted clothing.  Remember you will be upside down at times so tuck in your shirt and no loose shorts.
  • Avoid clothing with zippers, buttons or dangling straps — anything that can catch or snag on the silk hammock or get tangled in the harness.
  • Men should wear fitted shorts, like bike shorts.
  • Long, opaque leggings are recommended. Tight long shorts are appropriate. No short shorts!
  • Sticky socks are nice to help you climb the fabric and stop when you touch the floor.
  • Wear sticky gloves if you have a weak grip.
  • Listen to your body and its limitations.
  • We don't believe in stupid questions so ask away!
  • Please DO NOT over exert yourself! Be patient and gentle with your body – just by showing up you are victorious!
  • No pregnant women are allowed in Aerial or Bungee for safety purposes.
  • Age 14+ is the optimal age for aerial and bungee classes.
  • Children ages 9 - 13 should be accompanied by a parent.  We recommend parents to participate in the class.  However, we will offer parents a seat in the aerial room if they choose not to take the class.
  • Aerial Yoga has a minimum age limit of 9 years old.

Anyone with the following conditions should seek medical advice before pursuing any suspension classes:  Glaucoma, recent surgery (esp. shoulder, eyes, back, hips, hands or wrist), heart disease, very high or low blood pressure, motion sickness, easy onset vertigo, osteoporosis / bone weakness, recent head injury, cerebral sclerosis, propensity for fainting, carpal tunnel syndrome, severe arthritis, sinusitis or head cold, hiatal hernia, disc herniation or acute discogenic disease, recent stroke, artificial hips, radiculitis (inflammation of nerve root in spine), severe muscle spasms, botox injections (within 6 hours).

The suspension equipment has been anchored in the ceiling by a professional contractor and are rated to hold at least 1000 pounds.

Aerial Class descriptions are as follows:

  • Beginner Aerial class moves very slow and is for clients who have no previous knowledge of aerial yoga. It emphasizes the fundamentals of a beginner aerial yoga practice and will prepare clients to confidently move into our Basic Aerial classes.
  • Basic Aerial class is the next step up from Beginner Aerial. This class is for anti-gravity yogis who have taken Beginner Aerial classes and feel comfortable taking flight.
  • Intermediate/Advanced Aerial takes you to the highest level in the silks. Be ready to do tricks and flips along with a more difficult version of the basics.
  • Aerial Dance is beautiful creative movements suspended in air by silk fabrics.  It allows for three-dimensional choreography, freedom of movement and striking performances.  This class has a prerequisite of a Beginner or regular Aerial Yoga class.

Bungee Class Descriptions are as follows:

  • Beginner Bungee - Learn the basics and get a great cardio workout in. This class will get you flying in your first hour but focuses on doing so safely. It is taught in repetitions similar to a trip to a gym but so much more fun in anti-gravity.
  • All Levels Bungee: Here we let loose. A basic understanding of bungees if helpful but not required. This class picks up the pace from the beginner and adds a lot more air time as well as basic introduction to combinations know as flows.
  • Bungee Fit: A fast paced 30 minute class focused on getting your heart rate up and your feet off the ground. This class is a HIIT class that soars.
  • Bungee Flow: This class takes the bungee moves you know and puts them together in to a sequence to flow with the beat of the music. You do need a basic knowledge of bungee so please take a beginner or all levels class first.
