The original Engineer's Guide to Cats video is a cult kitty classic. And now the two engineers are back with a second video -- and even more silly science!

For instance, did you know that the phenomenon of cats "flopping" over when you put a costume on them is actually what keeps the Earth balanced? Who knew? (Pimp does his part for this, for sure.)

It's just all so silly. These guys have great imaginations... and are also clearly very smart.

Ninja Cat Climbs a Building

What do you want to do when you want to get up to the next floor but there's no stairs or elevator? It's simple if you're a ninja cat... You just climb the walls.


P.S. Today is the second day of Alley Cat Allies national conference! What a bunch of great information so far. It's amazing to hear how other communities around the U.S. have worked together (animal controls, shelters, the elected officials and the people) to come up with better solutions and plans for their feral kitties. I hope that one day we can all be like this!

Pimp and Moo's Halloween Costumes - Eeyore and Pooh!

Happy Halloween, Cuteheads! You know we couldn't possibly let this go by without the boys dressing up!

This year we take a little trip to the Hundred Acre Wood... and Pimp and Moo become Eeyore and Winnie the Pooh!

(We'd like to thank our fabulous friends at Petsmart for sending us these costumes. They let us pick whatever we wanted, and this was the clear winner! Next choice would have been Bert and Ernie, in case you were wondering.)

Cat vs. Soda Can (and an Update on Sweet Pea, My Parking Lot Kitty)

Empty soda cans should not be left on the table, and this cat is going to make sure that's how it is -- no matter how many times the silly human puts it back on the table. Will he ever learn? Sheesh!

Or maybe he's teaching his human to fetch. In that case, well done, kitty! Looks like it's working!


NOTE FROM CUTE: Many of you probably saw on Facebook Sunday that we had to take my favorite parking lot kitty, Sweet Pea, to the vet. When I went to go feed them that day, it took a while for her to come out, and when I did finally see her I knew immediately something was wrong.

Her back paw was very swollen and she wasn't putting any weight on it. She was walking with a horrible limp, and there was a gash scratch across her nose. Oh no!

I immediately called her other parking lot mommy, Kelly, and she came right over with a carrier and we scooped Pea up and put her in. She stayed overnight at Kelly's and yesterday she went straight to the vet in the morning. We had to make sure she got all the care she needed!

We don't know exactly what happened to her, and the vet couldn't tell either. It's possible it was a bite. There are huge dinosaur-sized iguanas that hang out near the bushes where she does. Or maybe a raccoon, but we highly doubt that because they get all get along just fine, and always have.

Sweet Pea got some medicine to thrwart off whatever is causing the swelling and I'm working on a temporary foster while she heals. She can't go back in the parking lot like that. She needs to be able to run if needed and be fast and not hurt. Paws crossed she heals quickly. It breaks my heart to see her like this, and hurts me to know that something hurt her.

Here is a video of me petting her. She is the sweetest girl! You can hear her purr some, too, in it.


Her vet bill was several hundred dollars (whew!), but she's worth it. We got all bloodwork and testing and everything done, since she was there.

I will keep everyone posted on how she is doing. She is my FAVORITE parking lot kitty right now. She has to get better!

Cat Gets Busted Stealing Stuff Out of a Drawer

There is some really good stuff in that drawer, and maybe if she's really quiet and really careful, kitty can open it and just pick out just one thing. No one will notice, right?

Elevator Butt

If you have cats, you know what "elevator butt" is! You scratch right above their tail and instantly the go up on their back tippy toes and their butt goes as high as felinely possible.

Elevator butt. This first kitty demonstrates it perfectly. (And my favorite is the slow-mo white and orange one who isn't getting brushed. I think his name is Shiro.)

Golden Retriever Cleans the House

Grace is such a good girl! She cleans up her toys from all over the house in less than a minute!

She has squeaky toys and stuffies all over the place and she runs around like crazy when her daddy tells her to "clean house," rounding them each up one by one and putting them in her toy chest.

And when she's all done, she finishes off with flair and shuts the lid on her toy box!

Two Cats Share Food... One Piece at a Time

When sharing a meal, it is very important not to scarf down your half too quickly or try to eat more than your half by eating quicker than your friend. These two kitties are the epitome of polite plate-sharers!

They eat just one bite at a time, just a single morsel. And neither one hogs the bowl... they make sure they each have plenty of space to pick out just the right next bite. Such manners!

Cat Patty-Cake Tango

Two cats do a little tango dance while stopping to play patty cake a few times along the way.

It's all very graceful and choreographed, I think. These kitties have some very fancy paw-work!

Most Dramatic Doggie "Play Dead" Trick Ever!

Cat Steals Towel from Clothesline

The towels have been hanging to dry in the delicious, fresh sunlight and now they're ready to be used! First one to get to them, gets them... and in this case, it's the cat!

Kitty knows there's nothing better than a clean towel, and the fact that the towel is hanging on a clothesline is not going to stop him from enjoying his nice, warm snuggle towel.

Fat Cat Struggles to Fit in Tiny Box

No box is too small for a cat. Some of them just require a little extra effort, that's all. Especially if you're a bit on the chunky side.

Couple times she thinks she has it (right around :30 is a perfect example!), and gracefully and slowly starts to lower her fuzzy butt down, only to realize that's not quite right. Maybe making a little more space by kicking a paw out? Nah, that's not it either. Persistence pays off though!
