Wedding Wednesday: Bride and Groom Hoops
Just a quick post to update you on the Bride and Groom hoops I shared with you as a free pattern!
I just happened to be working on a veil project (more on that later, I hope) and had some scraps of pretty ivory Chantilly lace and tulle leftover, so I used them to embellish my Bride hoop. I also used ivory bias tape to wrap the hoop (I originally used light gray in my first post).
On to the Groom hoop - I wanted to embellish it, but not too much and not too flowery, so I stitched some very delicate branches on each side in DMC 822 and white sewing thread. I used the original light gray bias tape, and DMC 822 for the lettering.
The difference in color on the bias tape and stitching is very subtle, but I think it works well:
Here are the links to the free Bride and Groom patterns, by the way:
Would you like a pattern version of the very simple branches design I added to the Groom hoop? Leave a comment here, I'll be happy to draw it up later!

The Scrappy { Hoops } - A Modern Swap
If you've read my other posts here on Feeling Stitchy, you know that I love to blur the lines between fabric, sewing, quilting, and embroidery. And if you want to see some examples of how these different elements can come together to create wonderful works of art -- all framed in a simple embroidery hoop -- look no further than the Scrappy { Hoops } swap.
The Scrappy { Hoops } a group "dedicated to creating and receiving the coolest modern and urban fabric hoops for their homes!" The insanely talented swappers in the group combine different materials and techniques to bring their visions to life.
But enough words. I've compiled a collection of beautiful & inspirational photos to give some flavor of what you can find in the group. Click on each photo to learn more about both the maker and the recipient of each piece.
Want to get involved? The group recently wrapped up round 1 of the swap, and I've heard some buzz about a potential round 2 ...

Tiny Embroidery Hoop
This just in: a tweet from @worthygoods1 pointing me to the tiniest embroidery hoop I ever did see! Offered by Becka Rahn in her etsy shop:
Made from laser cut bamboo plywood, a tiny bit of wire and little bits of stitched fabric. The outside of the hoop is just 1 inch!

Facebroidery
I am a huge fan of artist Cate Anevski (blog, Flickr, Etsy) and couldn't help but make a mosaic of her fantastic "facebroideries". This just makes me happy.

Camera Love
Stitched by inspired*mess
Oh, I love cameras too. Almost as much as I love the cute hands holding this embroidery for the camera. Too sweet! :) Stitched from an Elsie Flannigan pattern.

Embroidery and block printing
What a lovely combination of block printing and embroidery. The image and the stitching work really well together in this 'folklore' piece. Simple and beautiful and the limited use of colours underlines the simplicity.

Stitched by LittleBeeThatCould
You peeps are really doing a lot of awesome Sublime Stitching lately! Every time I turn around there's new stuff in the pool!
Take this Mr and Mrs Zombie duo, made by LittleBeeThatCould for a friend who likes zombies. Oh yes. I can totally see a zombie wedding theme here. Or am I the only one weird enough to imagine that? ;)

I've seen a lot of embroidered hoop art but I must say these bird branches have to be the cutest thing yet. The backs are lovely, too. Adorable!

There's been so much gloom and doom lately about the economy - it's refreshing to see a positive take on things from a crafter. I love her felt creations and think it's genius that's she's celebrating a return to craftiness. Woo-hoo!
