Mama and Me Brunch

It has been a hectic week filled with doctor's appointments, errands and many meals on the go.
We woke up to a rainy, cloudy, dark day and I felt we needed a good long hearty breakfast today before we are headed back out to finish up our weekly errands and even seeing one of my sons in a school play.

I decided to make a German breakfast with plain yogurt, Swiss muesli and Kaiserschmarrn. Kaiserschmarrn is comparable to a thick pancake and a popular dessert in Austria and Bavaria. It was exactly what I needed today.

My daughter's Din Din Platter Brunch:
  • an apple umbrella
  • plain yogurt with a mini chocolate chips rain drop
  • Naturebox Vanilla Macroon Granola
  • Kaiserschmarrn with powdered sugar
  • strawberries

My plate has also Kaiserschmarrn with powdered sugar, strawberries and a small bowl of plain yogurt with swiss muesli and apple bits.

Have a sunny day!

Every-Bunny Loves Lunch

Last weekend we found a special visitor on our porch:

Can you guess how excited my kids were? We let him rest in the shade and gave him some water and carrots. He stayed for a couple of days and the kids loved having him around.

He eventually went home to a new home and I know the kids miss him. I decided that it would be nice to make them bunny themed lunches to remind them of our special guest :)

Our yubo is packed with:
  • four mini bunny sandwiches
  • carrots and Annie's bunny cheese crackers
  • vanilla yogurt with a sprinkle bunny shape and
  • Naturebox Vanilla granola with a small bunny cup filled with mini chocolate chips for the yogurt

I also added a sweet Lunchbox Love Card to remind them how sweet it was of them to care for the bunny.

Our yumbox is packed with more bunny food:
  • Annie's cheddar bunnies
  • a cereal bar
  • 4 mini bunny sandwiches
  • tomatoes with a bunny pick
  • cucumber flowers
  • and a few gummy treats

And when my preschooler saw all the bunny lunches, she of course wanted one, too. She helped pack her own lunch for today:

Since she ate at home she just packed a yumbox tray:
  • with baby carrots
  • Annie's cheddar bunnies
  • four mini bunny sandwiches
  • apples with a bunny pick
  • and cucumber flowers as well as
  • a few fruit gummies

Rainy Day Lunches

We are starting the week on a rainy, dreary and windy Tuesday. I decided to brighten their day with colorful lunches and pack all their favorites.

I packed our yumbox with a blueberry Chobani Champions tube yogurt, apple slices and kiwi, left over chicken, mini ice cream shaped peanut butter sandwiches and some baby carrots with dip. We packed milk today instead of water.

For my second grader I added some sun with a funny Lunchbox Love Card, and packed his yubo with Pirate Booty and cinnamon almonds, puzzle shaped peanut butter and blueberry jelly sandwiches and vanilla yogurt with Naturebox Vanilla Macroon Granola and a few mini chocolate chips. He brought home made strawberry milk in our thermos Funtainer. Hope the sun peaks out for lunch!

My 5th grader brought lunch in his Laptop Lunches bento box filled with Pirate Booty and Cinnamon Almonds, apples (and mini chocolate chips for his yogurt in the mini container), vanilla yogurt and a nitrate-free salami sandwich on whole wheat bread. He packed some lemonade to bring summer to school.

Let's hope the rain goes away!!

Here are some of the things I used to make these lunches (the links contain affiliate links):

Elephants & Pandas

Lunches were packed fast this morning since we all woke up feeling tired.
Coffee here I come!

My son wanted a lunch similar to this yubo lunch so packed him vanilla yogurt, chocolate shavings and Naturebox Orange Crush Granola and a Lunch Punch Elephant sandwich with a chocolate chip eye standing on a vanilla chocolate chip cereal bar. He also brough ice water in a thermos!

We also packed our new yumbox today which seems perfect so far for my small appetite first grader! He chose vanilla yogurt, oranges, carrots and apples, a yogurt cereal bar and half a pretzel bagel with cream cheese for lunch today. I added a chocolate heart as a special treat for today as well. He has ice water in a thermos packed in his lunch bag, too.

I love that this lunchbox has so many small compartments! My son felt overwhelmed with the bigger lunchboxes and he loves this 6 compartment box. Less food but more choice!

Flower Lunch

I found some ripe and sweet strawberries at the store over the weekend and had some left over whole wheat pancakes left over so lunch today is breakfast for lunch :)

I packed whole wheat pancakes cut into flower shapes and decorated with FruitaBü fruit strips as well as homemade strawberry yogurt, fresh strawberries decorated with flower picks and granola.

Strawberry Yogurt with Chobani Non-Fat Vanilla Yogurt

(for 2 lunches)

6  TBS Vanilla Chobani
4 Strawberries
Honey/Sugar or Agave Syrup to taste
(I added 1/8 Teaspoon of Vanilla sugar)

Blend all ingredients in the blender until smooth.
Enjoy!

Smile - it's Friday

Today's lunch is a quick and simple again :)

A sandwich decorated with Nutella and white chcocolate chips to make a face, three yoghurt star cookies, 1/2 an apple with letter cinnamon cookies that spell HI and a mini cereal bar :)

One of my other kids wanted kid shushi. So I made Nutella, Jelly and Turkey with celery and carrot ones. All you do is roll a piece of bread flat with a rolling pin or glass, fill, roll and cut in about 1/3 :)
There is a great How-To make Kid Sushi over at MommyGoggles :)
I also backed a muffin cup with granola and decorated it with white chocolate chips, Nutella and a carrot mouth. There is also a kid energy bar, veggie sticks and cinnamon cookies. A snack lunch with a smile :)

Have a wonderful weekend!
I am so glad it's Friday ;)
