A collection of some videos I have enjoyed these last weeks, turned into a video festival for you all!

Brötzmann

This Sunday has been quiet up til now (not everywhere unfortunately! - Ukraine etc), so I felt the need for some Peter Brötzmann again!

First out is Brötzmann with Jason Adasiewicz (vibes) and Hamid Drake (dr) at 2014 Winter Jazzfest in NYC (January 2014) (more on the WindowsHaveEyes YouTube account), and then Brötzmann with Han Bennink (dr) at the 34th birthday festival of The Ex (Den Haag, February 2014).

Peter Brötzmann in Ljubljana

The 54th jazz festival in Ljubljana happened recently, so let´s have a fine interview with Peter Brötzmann from that festival and concert video of Sax and Drums, a new project with Peter Brötzmann, Ken Vandermark, Hamid Drake and Chad Taylor. Sax and drums indeed!

Peter Brötzmann: Solo + Trio Roma

If you are into Peter Brötzmann, you better check out his "Solo + Trio Roma", recorded at Festival International de Musique Actuelle de Victoriaville in May 2011, and released on Canadian Victo (2012).

You get one CD with varied and fine solo playing by Peter Brötzmann (ts, as, clar), where he is ending the show by playing Ornette Coleman´s "Lonely Woman", and one CD with Paal Nilssen-Love (dr) and Massimo Pupillo (b) from a concert where the walls must have been shaking!
The 69 minutes long "Music marries room to room" is a noisy and energetic party, and they are not relaxing much in the encore either.

The music was recorded a couple of months after Brötzmann celebrated his 70th birthday!
Great stuff!

Concert for Fukushima

Pan Rec and Trost Rec will release a benefit concert film with Peter Brötzmann Chicago Tentet and guests, from the Music Unlimited Festival (Wels, Austria) 2011.
Proceeds from the concert and film go to the Japanese organization "Save Takata" and to "Project Fukushima!" (launched by among others Yoshihide Otomo).

... The Worse the Better

London´s Cafe Oto must be some kind of heaven for people who like free jazz and improvisational music. They have started their own record company too, and the first release is Peter Brötzmann (reeds), John Edwards (b) and Steve Noble (dr): "… The Worse the Better" (OTO roku, 2012).
This is a recording of the first set of a concert held at Cafe Oto in January 2010 (40 min), and it is unbelievable tough free jazz at it´s best!

You better check out what Free Jazz is saying about the album.

Order a great vinyl issue, with cover by Brötzmann, or stick to the mp3 file if you prefer. You get the mp3 file sent by mail if you order the vinyl too (at least from Cafe Oto´s store). That´s the way to do it!

Sonore live in Belgrade

ADA Trio

ADA Trio is Fred-Lonberg Holm (cello, bass), Peter Brötzmann (sax) and Paal Nilssen-Love (dr).
They have been touring recently, and on the video they are playing at London´s Café Oto, with drummer Steve Noble joining. The Liminal reviews that concert.

I sure hope they will be touring again!

Sonore live

What a trio Sonore is! Ken Vandermark, Peter Brötzmann and Mats Gustafsson, a line up that´s pretty hard to beat!
Here you have almost one hour from SKIF-14 Festival 2010 (St. Petersburg).

2 x Brötzmann trios

Check out Peter Brötzmann in two different trios, both of them recorded live in Japan, not long ago.
The first one is with Paal Nilssen-Love (dr) and Fred Lonberg-Holm (sello) (18 October), the second with Tamaya Honda (dr) and Michiyo Yagi (koto) (20 October).
