The Irish pop group U2 came here to the Wheaton-Hollis Hotel in December 1986.
They brought with them Dutch photographer Anton Corbijn and his panoramic camera.
The idea was to shoot a picture suitable for the cover of their next album, to be released in March of 1987.
They wound up using a joshua tree in the Mojave Desert for the the cover shot instead of the ghosttown.
The black and white photo shows three men, three women and a child standing at the same location some 80 years earlier, in 1906.
