Built in early 1990s, Menara Alor Setar is a 165 m (541 ft) telecommunication tower in Alor Setar, the state capital of Kedah. The tower was built for Telekom Malaysia (www.tm.com.my/) at a cost of RM40 million. Apart from serving the role of a telecommunication tower, it also caters as a tourist destination for the town. The tower also houses some restaurants and a souvenir shop.
