A Special Giveaway

When Lyric Kincard asked me to review

her new DVD

I said sure. When it came I slipped it into the player

and was transpired into another world. Now I do

beading but I sure learned a lot from this fabulous

DVD. I had been working in watercolor and put it all aside.

Out came the wool felt, the beads, the needles and away I

went. Listening to the DVD as I went. I felt like I was 

beading with an old friend. She has a special way of 

making everything easy and fun. I learned things I had never

tried before. Lyric has a great sense of humor that

makes learning something new easy and fun.

Summer of Color Comes to an End

 

Summer of Color is coming to an end. 

So I decided to make a mosaic of all I have done so far.

This has been such a delightful project 

that I have decided to keep filling my

journal to the very end.

I would like to thank Kristin very much

for such a delightful time.

Here's hoping we can do it again.

Beaded Bracelet By the Sea

I have been working on this  bracelet 

for sometime now. Just have to add 

the leather lining and edge beads to 

finish it. Reminds me of the sea 

with the colors,the charms and 

the glass. A fun little project.

My Progress So Far....

So far I have three quilted and cut out.

Each one is quilted a little differently.

These are now ready for embellishment.

That's it for now.

Experimenting again....

Found that I was running low on my

experimental ( that's what I call them)

papers for bead making. So got busy with

the paints and the Tyvek. Now they just need

cutting, rolling and firing.

These are a different experiment.
I carefully attached napkins to

a heavy canvas fabric. It is a

fragile process.

They will be used in a collage art quilt

I am dreaming up.

Just thought you'd like to see what the

"mad artist" has been up too...! 

Zentangle Beads continued...

First let me tell you that most of the

yellow you are seeing is actually green.

Just couldn't get the right angle. Anyway

I had fun painting them with the alcohol

inks. Remembering the 2 coats of  Mod

Podge first the the ink followed with 2 more

coats of  MP. Next it will be the resin so

 that they look like glass. Click for close ups

if you like. I have another zentangle project

in the works. So more on that later.

You know I love the colors but I also like the

black and white. What do you think?

Just Doodling...?

I am always pen and ink in hand doodling.
Well that's when I am not painting, crazy

quilting,gourd burning,etc,etc.... you get

the picture. The brain is never resting

these days. I have to try everything

and anything at least once...

 Now they seem to have a new name

for doodling it's now called zendangle.

So I had to try to doodle zendangle

some beads. What fun using Friendly

Plastic (remember that stuff). Well I think

this is the new revised addition. Easy peasy...

I just doodled zendangled away on the plastic...

then heated it with my heat tool, and rolled it into

a bead.

After shaping and drying it with two coats

                              of Mod Podge they are now ready to paint
                              I will use alcohol ink then two more coats
                    of mod podge and finally resin. I'll be back
                                       with photo's  when finished.

 plastic website (just google it) and look for a

tutorial by Linda Peterson. It's a video and fun to

watch.

Leaves of Green Necklace

Spring is here and the leaves of green

are starting to appear...

Just another little necklace full of glass baubles, green

leaves, imprinted silver colored spacers and apple green

felt beads with ruby colored seed beads encrusted

on them.

I think the little bird is singing

for more Spring days!

Beads, Beads and More Beads....

Went a little crazy the last couple of weeks.

I would sit at night and make beads and

watch TV, the Olympics, etc.

I started to realize...

I had a lot of beads to glaze!

I have put four coats of glaze on them and they are

now very hard and shiny.

The white looking ones are actually sheet music.

(kind of hard to see the notes in the photo's)

Will make cute jewelry for a music teacher, don't you think!

Glass Beaded & Silk Ribbon Brooch

A sweet  silk ribbon embroidered brooch with glass beading.

It is edged with a silk metallic cord and has a felt backing.

This is my 2 inch round version of " Spring Flowers"!

I think we all need a little Spring right now.

Finishing up a few projects

I decided to try to finish "some" of my projects and "clean up my act"! I don't know about you but I always have many projects going at the same time. Well I have two small studios, one for painting,paper art, gourds, etc. Then I have one for all my sewing projects. Both places were "screaming" at little ol' me to get a move on. So I did. Not totally but I have made a dent.  Here are some of my finished projects... I shall be listing these in my Etsy Shop. In the mean time I must continue to get things finished, so I don't hear those little studios screaming at me. I'll keep you informed.....    

Bangle bracelet

I love chickadees and so I put this little fellow on my new bangle bracelet.
Lots of colors, CQ stitching, beads, motifs, silk ribbon embroidery and sequins. A lady always needs sequins. Just a fun little piece!

PLAYING WITH FABRIC AND GLUE

MAKING FABRIC BEADS!

What a fun day making fabric beads. I wanted fairly thin beads, so experimented with different size forms. Used chopsticks, small wood skewers, and straws. I really like the size of the skewer ones. It was a little tough getting the material off the skewers ,but with a little patience it worked. If anyone knows an easier way, please comment!!!! This is what they look like at this point. Now for a little trimming and then add the embellishments. I think beads and fibers. What do you think?
