I'd Rather Be Dead

One of my childhood friends, dating back to 1st grade I think, sent me this wonderful Harry Nilsson video.  Her mother is 93, incontinent, going blind, and can no longer swallow thanks to Parkinson's disease. Unfortunately, she is in her right mind.  My girlfriend's son sent it to her to lighten her mood.  He's 25.  It's a delightful song on a serious subject.  His backup group of seniors, with a few exceptions, are so obviously British, I kept looking for Monty Python. But no.  This is for real as far as I can tell.

P.S.  Yesterday would have been my mother's 100th birthday.  I know if she'd lived, she'd "rather be dead" too!

I Don't Usually Like Bill Maher's Humor, But When I Do...

Despite the freeze frame of a large booty, this is Maher's take on:

  1. Ageism
  2. Jerry Brown
  3. Youth vs Wisdom
  4. Sex
  5. Millennials

Good stuff!

I. Am. Back.

I am totally unable to account for MIA since January 6th , the date of my last post.    I was out of ideas and needed a break.  It happens a lot.  Many bloggers never return.  I contemplated quitting as I felt I no longer had anything to say.  I've never worked to promote my blog and have often wondered if my lack of focus, i.e. the focus needed to categorize my writing, is a drawback to developing a large readership.  I write because I want a place to make observations and, yes, vent from time to time.

Lately I've been re-thinking the process.  Topics are beginning to jell in my brain and they are truly all over the place.  I guess that's just me and I should embrace it.

I realize writing is my avocation so, why not continue?  Also, I miss you guys.  So here's to getting back in the groove.  I may experiment with short quick posts more often and I may get back to writing in depth about the things for which I feel great passion.

Today, I embed a short but sweet one from the great Stephen Colbert.

Thursday Humor

My husband emailed this joke.  If I'd had it prior to today, I'd have included in yesterday's post. As it is, you should go back and read that one after reading this because this joke goes with yesterday's joke(s).

Choosing a wife

A man wanted to get married. He was having trouble choosing among three likely candidates. He gives each woman a present
of $5,000 and watches to see what they do with the money.

The first does a total makeover. She goes to a fancy beauty salon, gets her hair done, new makeup; buys several new outfits and dresses up very nicely for the man. She tells him that she has done this to be more attractive for him because she loves him so much.
The man was impressed.

The second goes shopping to buy the man gifts. She gets him a new set of golf clubs, some new gizmos for his computer, and some expensive clothes. As she presents these gifts, she tells him that she has spent all the money on him because she loves him so much.  Again, the man is impressed.

The third invests the money in the stock market She earns several times the $5,000. She gives him back his $5,000 and reinvests the remainder in a joint account. She tells him that she wants to save for their future because she loves him so much.
Obviously, the man was impressed.

The man thought for a long time about what each woman had done with the money he'd given her.

Then
he married the one with the biggest boobs.

Tuesday humor from this WOACA

My younger co-worker sent this YouTube video to me today. He knows how cranky I've been since the operation. He sent it along to "cheer" me up.  It does.

P.S.  Make sure you watch this all the way to the end.

The Bitchy Waiter sez "Mind your manners"

One of my favorite blogs of all time is "The Bitchy Waiter".  He's a guy in NYC, working as a waiter, who writes about his day or evening or experience.  And boy is he funny.  He makes the simplest event a slapstick comedy.  I have been following him approximately four years now.

While perusing his brand new blog site and design at TheBitchyWaiter.com,  I ran across the televised video of him on CBS Sunday Morning.  I remember his excitement at being chosen.  He asked his readers to write CBS and request a segment using him.  It worked.  I am sure I've posted this in the past but here it is again.  Enjoy, laugh and remember . . . be nice to your waiter.

Found on Facebook today

When I first saw this, all I saw was the guy on the left
and I stiffened w/ irritation.  Then I saw the guy on the right.

Yeah, this is where my head is at.

Probably true.
