Another history-related Chinese postcard... The message on the back says the card shows characters Water Margin. It's a novel attributed to Shi Nai'an, Considered one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature. Having 120 chapters in some editions, the novel is is rather complicated rather complicated when it comes to the plot.
Welcome to my mailbox! I'm Adi, Croatian postcard and stamp collector.I'm trying to explore the beauties of the world through postcards. Here you can find what I've got so far, sorted by countries. Enjoy!

China
Now something totally different... A bronze animal mask from China! I'm very fond of archaeology, but have to admit that I don't know much about eary Chinese history. As I learn now, the mask was found on the archaeological site called Sanxingdui, dating back to the 12th-11th century BC. It's a Bronze Age culture, indentified with the kingdom of Shu by archaeologists. The oldest life-size human statue was excavated there as well. Check out the rest of objects found, they are stunningly beautiful!

China
Do you have these certain postcard sets that you fell in love with in the first sight? Well, Chinese set, whose part is the card above, is one of these sets for me...Many thanks to Kun for sending me this view from the eastern China. I always find interesting to see people on postcards, because it seems to me that there is no better way to discover a country but through its people.

China
My very first market scene from China, from the hometown of the great poet Quyuan (343–278 BCE) , which should be somewhere in modern-day province of Hubei ("north of the lake"; referring to its position north of Lake Dongting), a province located in the central part of the country.
The postcards shows local people and their life, more exactly a street market scene with fruits and vegetable stands. Thanks to Zhou for the beautiful postcard and two fantastic flower stamps!

Huangguoshu Falls, China
Huangguoshu Waterfall (literally "Yellow-Fruit Tree Waterfalls"), is one of the largest waterfalls in China and East Asia located on the Baishui River in Guizhou province. It is 77.8 m high and 101 m wide.
There is a special line of buses servicing Huangguoshu Waterfall, the Dragon's Palace at Guiyang, and Anshun railway stations.
Thank you, Yanjuan!

China
Christy sent me a postcard showing Terra-cotta Army of Emperor Qin Shi Huang, unearthed thirty kilometers east of Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, near the tomb of Emperor Qin Shi Huang, the first Emperor of China. The life-size terra-cotta soldiers and chariots are extremly lifelike and imposing, aren't they?

China, again :)
Usually I try to avoid posting two postcards from the same country in such a short period, but look at this beautiful card; who could resist? :) So, here comes another postcard from China that have reached my mailbox in last few days. This time it shows the Great Wall. I always wanted to have a view over the Great Wall in my postcard collection. It looks stunning gorgeous, don't you think?
The construction of the first, much smaller and shorter, walls started in the 7th century BC. Later, these smaller walls, were connected to form the Great Wall as we know it today, measuring approximately 8,850 km. The wall was used to protect the Chinese Empire and to control the exchange of goods transported along the Silk Road, but the path of the Great Wall also served as a transportation corridor. Nowadays, the Great Wall is a huge tourist attraction and some parts of it are reconstructed and in a pretty good condition. On the other hand, some parts of the Great Wall are in a very bad condition. This part on the card in not in a good position either. Did you know that over 60 km of the wall in Gansu province may disappear in the next 20 years, due to erosion from sandstorms?
I am very thankful to Zhao for this beautiful postcard. And the stamps are quiet nice. I am often skeptical about the Chinese postcards that I am waiting to reach me as I have receive many dull ones, but this card really made me think again :) Thank, Zhao!

China
One more postcard that I found in my mailbox yesterday, this time it comes from China. It shows a post office in Shanghai in the 50s. In fact, I don't know does it show the post office at all because I can't understand a single character written on the window :D I always wonder how do they learn to differentiate all of these characters in China. There is so many different ones and even more different combinations! Did you know, for example, that the functional literacy requires a knowledge of between three and four thousand characters?
Thank you, Devnet, for the postcard and two nice stamps.

China
I cannot belive . . . This is the 100th postcard that I have posted on my blog. It seems like I started blogging and putting my cards online yesterday. For this special occasion I didn't choose anything spectacular, but a nice single view postcard from China. I really got bored with European cards; cards which come from a different continent are sooo exotic for me. I imagine all the places shown on the postcards and hope that I'll be able to visit at least some of them in the future.
This postcard shows Lushun Museum. Lushun Museum was built in 1917 and now it is a national key museum. Large scale of transformation and reconstruction work was completed in May 2001. It has become the largest garden-like museum in China. Thanks, Yonitte :)

China ,or Kina in Croatian :)
This is one of my favourite cards from my collection. I received it from "3+ stamps tag". It really surprised me, because all the cards that I received by then from tags were ugly. Thanks to Xiaowen who sent me this amazing card with even more beautiful stamps!
When I think of China - I think of the Great Wall immediately, don't you? Well...China ( official- People's Republic of China or PRC) is the world's most popolous country with a population around 1.3 billion. It's hard for the to imagine, because Croatia has a poulation of (only) 4.5 million :) The capital of China is Beijing, although the biggest city Shanghai.
The card shows Fujian Earth Building. The earth building, typically no windows at ground floor, has only one gateway guarded by 4-5 inch thick wooden doors with an outer wrap of iron plate. Each floor serves a different function, the first hosts a well and livestock, the second is for food storage and the third and higher floors are living spaces. More often, the top floor of these earth buildings has gun holes for defensive purposes. It looks very nice, doesn't it?
Stamps are great as well. They show an ancient Chinese story made as a cartoon and printed on stamps. Thanks once again, Xiaowen!
