Foundation: New Record and Record Release Show Info

Atlanta's straight edge torchbearers, Foundation, are releasing their brand new full length "When The Smoke Clears" on Bridge 9 Records May 3rd. Preorders launched last week and will be shipping soon. If you can't wait, Bridge 9 has released a 7 inch called "At Your Mercy" which features two songs from the upcoming full length as well as a Path of Resistance cover. This is a limited pressing so if you want to get your hands on it, do it soon. The band will be playing a record release show on April 30th in Atlanta with a little help from Brooklyn's Indecision as well as a host of others so if you are in the area, make sure you go. After that, the band will be heading out on tour with Shai Hulud and later with Xibalba and Mother Of Mercy.

Favorite Records of the 90s - Hank Pratt (Foundation)

Foundation is one of the small amount of bands over the last 5 years that I not only enjoy but respect immensely. These know their 90s hardcore and have a great respect for the bands who came before them. I asked Hank Pratt, guitar player for Foundation, what his favorite 90's hardcore record is and here's what he had to say:
"It's very hard to pick my favorite record from the 90s because I just love so many. If I had to pick I guess it would be Buried Alive's "The Death of Your Perfect World". This record is perfect beginning to end. It starts off with a banger and ends with a banger. And lets not forget that sweet guest spot on "To Live and Die With" by who better than, Jamie Jasta. This record had been stuck in my brain since the first day I heard it. It's not just the recording that sounds awesome, tt's the intensity of the record that keeps me listening every time. The guitar tone, drums, lyrics, and vocals can not be fucked with. I had always loved Scott's other bands, but this record just stuck out for me. It's just so heavy! Every time I hear the end of "Empty Sky" I want to kick some one's head off of their body. Really, there are multiple parts on this record that make me want to do that. I listen to this record almost daily and it just never loses its flair."
Foundation will be releasing their new album in April on Bridge 9 Records.

Sound And Fury Festival 2010 Info

Summer is here (okay it officially starts on the 21st) and that means festivals. Of all the newer festivals in the past few years, its seems like Sound and Fury in Santa Barbara, California has become THE fest to attend on the West Coast (This Is Hardcore on the East, more on that tomorrow). Every year, the lineup just gets better and better with this years lineup being my personal favorite so far. Some great older bands (Outspoken, Strife, Earth Crisis, Sick of It All) and newer ones (Heartsounds, Mourningside AD, Foundation)...overall the fest is going to be solid. When more info becomes available, we'll get it posted but tickets are now available and if you buy a ticket for all 3 days, its only $70. The lineup has been posted but not the times yet. Forfeit's (Syracuse) Last Show

My friend Matt sent me a message asking if we could post this flyer up and honestly, who am I to turn my back on Syracuse? Forfeit did some heavy touring and are now calling it quits so try and make it out to see them. Foundation signs with Bridge 9 Records

As mentioned in a post last year, I love ATL's Foundation. Awesome dudes who love the core and tour their asses off finally get the recognition they deserve by signing with Bridge 9 Records. Here's a statement from Bridge 9:

Things are busy here at Bridge Nine Records and we are more than excited to announce another addition to our roster - Atlanta's straight edge hardcore stalwarts Foundation. No strangers to to the road, Foundation has been seen on tour all over the country; most notably with Bane and on Have Heart's final string of shows last Fall. B9 Owner Chris Wrenn said, "We couldn't be happier to sign Foundation - these guys have been working hard over the last few years and officially caught our attention last summer when we were all blown away by their live show. It's important for us as a label to have a solid, straight edge hardcore band and Foundation is the best band in that genre right now. Champion and Have Heart did great things for Bridge Nine in the past decade and after their demise we are excited to pass the torch over to Foundation."

Foundation will be gearing up for a full US tour in May and June alongside Backtrack and Rotting Out before they head to the studio to record their Bridge Nine Records debut. With two releases under their belt (Hang Your Head 7" and S/T 7" on Six Feet Under Records) and influences such as Unbroken and Buried Alive, Foundation's first proper full-length is sure to be one of the best straight-forward hardcore records of the year. Drummer Champ Hammett said, "We can't wait to finish and record the new LP and tour non-stop - we want to hit all the fests and cover the US, hopefully Europe and other parts of the world. Get ready to see us everywhere in 2010 and beyond."
