Terms of service

These terms govern your use of talat, the meeting transcription app for macOS and Windows. By downloading or purchasing talat, you agree to these terms.

What you're buying

talat is sold three ways: a monthly subscription, an annual subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase. Every plan is the same full app with all updates included.

A subscription licence stays valid while the subscription is paid. You can cancel at any time and keep access until the end of the period you've paid for; cancelling stops the next renewal but doesn't refund or pro-rate the time left on the current period. If your subscription ends, talat stops recording new meetings, but everything you've already recorded stays on your machine: readable, searchable, and exportable. A lifetime licence is perpetual, with no recurring charges.

The free version of talat gives you full access to every feature with 10 hours of recording time, so you can make sure it works for you before committing.

Licence terms

Your licence is personal to you. You may install talat on multiple computers that you own and use, but you must not share, resell, or redistribute your licence key. One licence, one person.

We reserve the right to revoke a licence if it's being shared or used in violation of these terms. We'd rather not — we'd much prefer to just ask you to stop — but we need the option.

Referrals

If you take part in our refer-a-friend programme, referral rewards and friend discounts are a goodwill gesture, offered at our discretion. They aren't a cash entitlement, and we can change or end the programme at any time.

The scheme is for genuinely recommending talat to people you know. We may void a code, withhold or reverse a credit or discount, and suspend an account if we see it being gamed: referring yourself, fake or churned signups, or bulk and automated redemption. As with everything else here, we'd rather just ask you to stop, but we need the option.

Your data

talat processes all meeting data locally on your device. We don't receive, store, or have access to your recordings, transcripts, or notes. Your data is yours. See our privacy policy for full details.

Availability and updates

We aim to keep talat working well and to ship regular improvements, but we can't guarantee uninterrupted availability or that the app will always work perfectly with every OS update. We'll do our best — we use it every day ourselves.

talat requires macOS 15 or later (Apple Silicon) or Windows 10 or later. We may update system requirements over time.

Limitation of liability

talat is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by law, we're not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for your licence.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of talat after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
