The story behind this record is dusty enough. During a trip to London in mid-2010’s, I headed to Dalston for record hunting. After visiting a Oxfam store, Kingsland and a few more, a shack-looking place smelled like records. A guy of uncertain age was behind a makeshift counter, giving me a little nod, but otherwise was not too present in the situation. The room had many staples of records, most of them in poor condition, and surrounded of all sorts of trash. One twelve caught my eye because the label’s artwork was similar to that of Blacknecks. After leaving the establishment, I was in a dire need of soap and water, but the record copped for a couple quid looked in rather good condition.
The single features two versions of the early 1990’s summer trance of seemingly German origin. Speaking of the genre and that era, Berlin’s MFS comes into my mind first and there seems to be a connection. Without any info on the labels, identifying the record was not easy and the story looks pretty messy. “T001” in the runout helped further on Discogs, where it is listed as the UK promo of the project Soul Control, the first and only release on Tempel Berlin. Simultaneously it’s connected to the artist Sarin International, namely on MFS. By Youtube uploads, they share the bass line and other elements.
