Mission Accomplished

I should have noted in the last post that there is evidence that Graham's posturing last night paid him some early dividends.

John Dombroski (freshman-division of undergraduate studies) said he was at the meeting because he is interested in joining UPUA and was surprised to see Spanier.

"It seemed like he really cared about the students and the university," Dombroski said, "It was a really cool and good experience."

Someone at the Collegian should go back and interview the naive young John during his senior year and find out what he thinks about Graham after having had waded through bullshit for four years.

American Secular Religion

I'd like to draw your attention to a parenthetical comment made by Paul Krugman this morning on his blog. It was made in the course of a discussion of the volume of freight moved by train in the US vs. Europe.
Still, there’s an important residual difference, probably due to the U.S. absence of border issues, more market incentives (yes, markets are sometimes great — but they should be seen as a tool, not an object of religious devotion), and maybe other factors.
Can I get a hallelujah?
