++++INLOADING DATAFILE 015++++ Chaos Heretics 2

Ok, so now that a few weeks have gone by I've finally managed to finish the first twenty heretics for my new traitor IG army.  They are split about half and half between close combat oriented and shooting oriented dudes.

The main new things of note at this stage are:
1. I've started putting rebreathers on about half of them.  Its actually an easy sculpting step and it dramatically increases the number of heads that I can use, as all I really need are the eyes.
2. As I don't like the poses of the chaos renegade militia weapon arms I did a repose on just about all of them.  So an entirely excessive amount of pinning later my guys look like they actually have some idea how to hold their weapons.

Ok, with no further ado I give you, the first twenty:

++++INLOADING DATAFILE 014++++ A largely useless post about my Heretics Army List

Blah tired.  Lots of sculpting work was done tonight, I'm about done putting all of the finishing details on the first 20 Heretics and the True Scale Chaos Lord who will be used in place of Straken for the army is coming along ridiculously quickly.  I'll post pictures of them soon, hopefully tomorrow.

So now onto the point of this post, here is the list that I'm currently fooling around with for my Heretics army.  Its themed around the fluff for the Word Bearer's traitor legion; always my favorite amongst the bad guys.  According to that fluff they corrupt and convert the populations of entire worlds to their causes and then send wave after wave of raving mad cultists at their enemies before they ever even take to the field.

The list includes both Straken and Yarrick for their bubble effects and as and excuse to make Chaos Space Marine models for the army's commanders.  I know, Yarrick has a 4+ save and not a 3+, whatever.  The army deploys as two platoons that have 20 man blob squads with grenade launchers and lascannons; grenade launchers being a theme for the army ALA dawn of war 2.  In front of them is a 50 man conscript squad that acts as a human shield and intermixed with all of this are the units of rough riders, the ogryns, and the suicide bomber demo charge teams.

++++INLOADING DATAFILE 009++++ Imperial Helicopter WIP

Here is something I worked up last night. Its a conversion from the Stormraven kit to turn it into a helicopter for my Merrikan Imperial Guard army to use as valkyries. it took me a few hours, ok a LOT of hours of test fitting to figure out what sort of design I was going to go for, but eventually I had an "Ah HA!" moment. Once that happened it only took 2 hours or so to work out how to build it.

++++INLOADING DATAFILE 003++++ Imperial Battlesuits Pt1

Here are some pics of my latest project, "battlesuits" for my Imperial Guard army. I've been debating on whether to use them as ogryns or sentinals, but I can do both if I make the bases interchangeable :) The base of the model comes from some old Heavy Gear models, its basically the anime version of battletech, which looked awesome when I saw them. 4 hours after seeing them I had the basics of the conversion made and I plan to make 6-8 more of them. The theme appearance wise is to make them look a bit like the suits from Avatar, but really they just sort of built themselves. The gun is based upon the weapons used by landmates from Appleseed the movie (first one) and was made by cutting lots of layers of plasticard into the correct shapes and then glueing them together, followed by using greenstuff to do detail work. Its a time consuming process but the results are really cool if you do it right. Actually this is how most of the guns in 40k I sculpted unless I'm mistaken...

More pics and possibly a tutorial will follow in the nebulous future when I get around to making the rest of these guys.

++++INLOADING DATAFILE 002++++ M1 Merric Battle Tank

Also commonly known as my "Abrams Russes", these are the conversions that I use for Leman Russes in my IG army. All told the conversion takes about 16 hours or so to finish per tank, but I think that the end product is worth it. I'm working on finishing the tutorial for how to build one of your own, and while there are a lot of steps its actually a rather easy build to make.

To make one you will need a rhino, a predator, and a landspeeder as well as a decent amount of plasticard. Not much putty work involved in this one, but you will still need some to fill in gaps in the final product.

The body only takes about 4 hours to make and the turret takes about 8 or so to have finished. Honestly it probably takes me less time to make one now that I've made five but it can vary, the demolisher took a lot longer given the extra work I put into the TUSK armor upgrade kit.

More pics of these guys after the weekend when I get to take some of them on a battlefield at FTW Games.
