My new studio is finally coming together!

Well, we've lived in our new home now for 6 months!
I think it was really about time I finished unpacking and
putting together my new art studio!

I had unpacked a little and decided I needed new
lighting fixtures on the sweet front porch.
I just LOVE how they look!!
Thanks to my dear daddy who installed them for me!

Dad noticed there was an old wasp's nest inside the rusty fan
that had been on the front porch so he took it apart
so I could use it for artwork!!!

The next step was a new door!
I found it on FB Marketplace and it was exactly what
I wanted to let a little more sunlight inside.
My sweet dad installed it AND we started hanging
lace curtains!

Yes, those bottom panels are quite long
but I can shorten them from the top later!

I've actually added a mini blind on this window below
because the sun sets on this side of the studio.
It really helps keep it cooler inside too!

You can kind of see the entrance to the tiny bathroom
in the left side of the photo below:

This is my new sewing table. It's on one end of the room and
my desk is on the other end. It really is just a room!
But I love it. There's a small bathroom in there as well because
it used to be the pool house!

This is the little nook off of the main room with a sink!
I've managed to cram as much stuff as possible in it though!!!
Even a mini fridge that was a gift from my son and his wife.

I know there are a lot of repetitive photos but
I took more pics once I hung artwork on the walls.

There is still more tweaking to do
but am so excited to get to MAKING again.
It's certainly time, right?

Thank you always for stopping by to see what I'm up to!

Hugs and love,
Dawn

Snippets of Inspiration ~

I've been trying to straighten up my studio a little bit
and ran across this wonderful article that I saved
many, many years ago.

I have notebooks FILLED with magazine clippings that I loved
just so I could finally toss the actual magazine....I would place the pages
in those glossy page protectors and when I needed a little inspiration,
they never failed to!

Now with Pinterest and so many other beautiful things on the internet,
it seems crazy to even do this anymore but to actually remove a magazine
from my possession, I still HAVE to clip out anything that is inspiring.

This is one of my very favorite articles and I scanned in EACH page
so you could enlarge it and read it.
I even took the liberty of color correcting
it just a smidge as the images were originally very yellow in the magazine.
I think this was from an old Victoria Magazine issue ~ just by looking at the fonts.

I wish I could remember the year...can you believe how
Carol Bolton's style has influenced all that we love
EVEN now in 2014???

(Be sure to click each photo to enlarge to read)

Right now, I've been going through my fabric stash...
sorting and grouping so it will be easier to find what I need when I need it.
And I'm not talking about what's already on the shelves...
this is fabric that's been piled in laundry baskets!!!

I think that's one of the biggest problems with my studio right now,
finding exactly what I need WHEN I need it!!!

If you saw this room right now you would just laugh your head off!
But I AM trying...so that counts, right??

Wishing you a beautiful Monday dear friends!

hugs and love,
Dawn

Is it Saturday yet??

In my book, you earn each and every penny you get when you have a yard sale! The one GOOD thing is that it's making me go through lots of things. Today I've been going through and organizing my fabric stash. I love my fabric, can you tell? I'm getting the urge to do some sewing too, just moving it around and going through it, makes me want to make something! This is just one shelf that I'm organizing ~ I still have two more to go!! Don't the colors look all nice grouped together? The sad thing is, I've only parted with a small stack so far.....I do have more to sort through, so hopefully the "sell" stack will grow.

This is just one of my favorite framed prints in our bedroom, don't you love the colors?

This is the most adorable little bag that a customer gave me once. It's a flower sack ~ lined with a heavy mil plastic bag so you can add water and a small bouquet of flowers! I was going to make some but haven't gotten around to it! You could leave the flowers in a small vase, then place inside. Hang on a door knob, chair or anywhere you'd love to see fresh flowers!

I hope you're having a great week. I'll be so very thankful when the yard sale is over!

Thank you so very much for so many of your sweet comments about the magazine article!!! You all are such an amazing group of women, I've just never seen anything like it. Have you seen the movie, Steel Magnolias??

Well you ALL are my Steel Magnolias!!!

xxoo, Dawn
