Body of minor domestic help found hanging at Samajwadi Party MLA's house in UP's Bhadohi

NEW DELHI: A 18-year-old girl employed as a domestic help at the house of Samajwadi Party MLA Zahid Beg was found hanging in a room at the terrace of the his house in Uttar Pradesh's Bhadohi district.
The girl was working for the past many years at Beg's house and her family used to reside in Kanshiram Housing in Mamdev area, circle officer Ajay Kumar Chauhan said.
The girl, who used to live in a room on the upper portion of the MLA's house in Malikana locality, was found hanging from a fan, the officer said.
Beg is SP MLA from Bhadohi Sadar seat.
Chauhan said when the girl did not wake up for a long time, the MLA's family looked inside and found the door locked from inside and girl's body hanging from the ceiling fan from her dupatta.
He said on receiving the information, the police reached the spot, broke the door, took out the body and sent it for post-mortem.
The forensic team is also working to investigate every aspect of the case. The post-mortem of the body will be done by a panel of two doctors and its videography will also be done, he said.
Beg said the girl had been working in his house for the last eight years. She was given a place to live in the store room on the top floor of the house.
In the morning, when the other domestic help went to wake the girl up, there was no response from inside. After this, she told everyone and ultimately the police was informed, he said.
On Monday, superintendent of police (SP) Meenakshi Katyayan confirmed the incident, stating, "Police and FSL (Forensic Science Laboratory) teams reached the spot as soon as the information was received. The body has been taken into custody, and post-mortem proceedings are underway."
"An investigation is being conducted from all possible angles to determine the cause of the suicide. Why the hanged herself is a matter of investigation," SP Katyayan added.
