A tragic accident at Faridabad's New Town Railway Station resulted in the death of a 36-year-old woman and her 16-year-old niece. They were attempting to help a family member cross the tracks when they were struck by a train. The family was preparing to board a train to Delhi for a visit to Bangla Sahib Gurudwara.

GURGAON: A 36-year-old woman and her 16-year-old niece died after being hit by a train at Faridabad's New Town Railway Station on Sunday. They were trying to help a family member cross the railway track when the accident occured.
Upasna was a housewife and her niece Sneha was a high school student from Jawahar Colony, police said. They were accompanied by Upasna's mother-in-law Rajkumari and her two children and were about to board a train to Delhi around 11.30 am.
"The family was planning to visit Bangla Sahib Gurudwara in Delhi.

As Upasna and Sneha were returning to their platform after purchasing tickets, they spotted Rajkumari stumbling while trying to cross the tracks to the platform where the Delhi-bound train was to arrive. The victims were able to help her to safety but unfortunately came under the train," said ASI Sudhesh Kumari.
According to Upasna's mother Meena, her son-in-law Gulshan runs a machine tools workshop from his house in Jawahar Colony. "Gulshan and Upasna have two school-going children, an eight-year-old girl and a seven-year-old boy. Our family is in shock," she said.
"We have initiated inquest proceedings under BNS Section 194," the ASI said.
