NEW DELHI: The 2024 Summer Paralympics will take place in Paris from August 28 to September 8. Paris and its surrounding areas, including Saint-Denis, Versailles, and Vaires-sur-Marne, will host the events.
In its 17th iteration, the Paralympic Games have seen participation from 129 countries, collectively winning 22,154 medals. The United States of America leads with 2,283 medals.
Great Britain holds the second position with 1,913 medals, trailing the USA by 370 and China ranks third with a total of 1,229 medals.
India is aiming to secure at least 25 medals, including a significant number of gold, in the upcoming Games, building on their last edition's success where they won 19 medals, five of which were gold.
This ambitious goal is driven by their remarkable performance at the Asian Para Games in Hangzhou last year, where Indian athletes earned a record-breaking total of 111 medals, including 29 gold.
India's confidence is bolstered by their past achievements and their continuing track record of outstanding performances on the international stage. The nation is determined to improve on its previous tally and achieve new heights in the upcoming Games.
The prestigious event, set to conclude on September 8, will witness the participation of more than 4,000 athletes with diverse physical and intellectual disabilities, all vying for glory on the international stage.
The upcoming games are highly anticipated as these numbers highlight the competitive spirit and accomplishments of the participating nations.
