TIARA ALERT: Queen Maxima of the Netherlands wore Queen Wilhelmina’s Diamond Bandeau Tiara for the banquet during the state visit to Cyprus at the Presidential Palace in Nicosia on 4 March 2025.
TIARA ALERT: Queen Mary of Denmark wore Queen Caroline Amelie’s Intaglio Tiara for the banquet during the state visit to Finland at the Presidential Palace in Helsinki on 4 March 2025.
Queen Mary debuted two pieces of jewelry that have not been worn in 140 years and that I didn’t even know existed!
The tiara was created circa 1820 for Queen Caroline Amalie, wife of King Christian VIII of Denmark. It contains 11 ancient intaglio gems that were collected by Christian during their trip to Italy where they visited excavations in Rome and Pompeii.
The bracelet was bought by King Frederick VII of Denmark for his first wife, Princess Vilhelmine Marie, during a trip to Italy in 1828. It is made with gemstones from the Vesuvius area and the box reads, ““C'est du sommet du Vésuve enflammé que mon cœur vole à toi. Le 24 Avril 1828./It is from the summit of the flaming Vesuvius that my heart flies to you. April 24, 1828.”
The royal court has stated that both pieces have become part of the Danish Royal Collection through inheritance and a gift but they don’t say when that happened or which was which. They will both be put on display at Rosenborg Castle. I love how Queen Mary has been pulling out pieces that haven’t been worn in a long time since becoming queen and how the royal court has release information about the jewels when she does.

TIARA ALERT: Chrysi Vardinogianni wore Queen Anne Marie’s Antique Corsage Tiara for her wedding to Prince Nikolaos of Greece at the Holy Church of Saint Nicholas Ragavas in Athens on 7 February 2025.
Here’s the livestream for the wedding of Prince Nikolaos of Greece and Chrysi Vardinogianni. The stream should start at 5:00pm (in about 10 minutes) and the wedding is at 6:00pm. I’m not sure what to expect as far as a tiara but I’m hoping we see some beautiful jewelry at least.
Billed Bladet has a livestream on their website too. It’s the same view but the picture is clearer for me.
Princess Benedikte is wearing part of her Floral Birthday Tiara as a brooch. You can always count on Bene to deliver.
I’m going to try to identify as many of the Greek royal family as I can.
Prince Nikolas, aka the groom, and Queen Anne Marie
Crown Prince Pavlos, Princess Marie Chantal, Prince Constantine-Alexios, and Prince Aristides-Stavros
Princess Alexia, her husband, Carlos, and their daughters, Amelia and Ana Maria
Princess Theodora and her husband, Matthew
Princess Irene, Queen Sofia, and Infanta Cristina
Princess Marina, wife of the late Prince Michael, with her daughter, Princess Alexandra, and son-in-law, Nicolas (I saw her other daughter, Princess Olga, Duchess of Aosta, in the livestream too but I can’t find a picture)
I’m waiting for a better photo for the tiara alert so here are some photos of the new Princess Chrysi arriving with her father, Giorgos Vardinogiannis, and her son, George.
The wind was really playing havoc on the veil but it also made for some pretty photos.

This is a companion blog to the Tiara Mania website which is an encyclopedia of royal and famous tiaras. The database now covers over 500 tiaras and I'll be alerting you here on Tumblr every time one of those tiaras is worn. Also, I love to answer questions but my asks are very backed up right now so it probably won't be answered quickly.
