The culture was forced, reddit repositioned themselves from being an alternative of facebook, to trying to become facebook with their IPO, and that requires complete brand participation and ownership.

And the culture changed to not have a problem with it, either. Can't remember if the rule was ever explicit, but I vaguely remember admin's talking about that not being allowed.

Premature optimization is honestly one of my favorite things when designing a system, or working in lower level systems languages, at the very least I have the hope that it will save me time (and memory!) in the future, the midway is that it gives me a slightly worse headache of figuring out why it was done that way, and the worst (and sometimes for the better) is that it stops me from even working the project at all o because the optimization work is such a big task when designing - "ugh, this is so convoluted why do any of it anyway?" *closes program*

I have the Boox Go 7, an android E-ink tablet that is by far the best reading focused machine I have ever used.

With that said, my sister is staying with me over the summer and she has the Boox Note Air 4c tablet (Color) e-ink tablet for when she is taking notes for class + doing rounds as a veterinarian and the quality on that thing is incredible. The visual depth, the battery life, how smooth and perfect the stylus and note taking is, is just incredible and makes me incredibly jealous (don't tell her).

I did a lot of research into this last year, and honestly the best one I have ever used and came to buy was the 8BitDo Ultimate 2, so much so that I rarely ever use my keyboard for gaming anymore. It's just so nice feeling and got rid of the pain in my hand.

Since you're talking about accuracy, the TMR sensors in it will give you an incredible amount of accuracy and they are quite smooth. Even better than hall effect.

Edit: Looks like on Amazon you can buy a perfect condition "used" (returned) version for about $40 which is pretty great.

Odin, out of all of the "small" languages. Is by far my favorite. It's influence from Wirtz (Pascal) is so incredible I love it. I've written a lot of small utilities in it, and a few of those help manage security systems for one of the largest companies in the world (if you're American, you probably use this place once a week, and drive by multiple of them everyday).

I tend to prefer writing in Odin far more than Zig. It just works. The lnaguage is done. But the built in standard library is always updating and getting better. It's wonderful. GingerBill (the creator) is by far one of the best modern language designers.

I once started a rewrite in Elixir, never published it anywhere sadly. If you write one in Gleam I would love to take a look!

I love Gleam, but haven't paid much attention since the older days. Erlang is one of my favorite languages, spent a lot of time in Elixir, and I even ended up writing a process/task/procedure manager inspired by the BEAM for use in other projects.

Has Gleam added to the concurrency/actor model yet, or is that still experimental like it was in the way past (please say it exists!)?

does anyone have any ideas on how big the binary sizes are for compilation? I imagine they bundle all of the EVM/BEAM into it? Must be beefy if that is the case.
