This is true for every field: people knowledgeable in that field know that there are better ways to do it then AI and easily spot the errors AI makes. AI only looks good in fields you are ignorant about.

Yes, they are improving, but there is also deminishing returns. If you doubled the amount of resources in genAI right now you would not get something twice as good, you might get a 25% improvement, and the resources currently being used is already obscenely high. GenAI is slowly closing the gap, but the resources required to do so are rapidly increasing. Actually closing the gap in unsustainable.

To me that sounds like nearly 50,000 people that have good reason to go burn down data centers.

The school day may not be as long as a standard work day, but factor in homework and my friend’s kids are doing a lot more than 40 hours a week.

The ones don’t this aren’t going to graduate as their homework is going to be full of errors and they can’t use genAI during a test.

Unfortunately for your cousin their teacher actually knows things and will spot all the errors ChatGPT makes.

Consistently, in every field, GenAI looks good to people who don’t know anything about the field, and looks like trash with obvious errors to people who are knowledgeable about the field.

You need to keep in mind that that is not an analysis of a random sampling of the population, that is an analysis of people who are willing to play the lottery in the first place. By definition these are people bad with money and planning.

This is the type of question my Calc teacher would put on a test. He liked doing weird questions probably because we’re doing fucking calculus here, it doesn’t make sense in “every day word problems” (I have never once needed to know how long it will take me to fill a funnel while I let water pour out it at the same time, and where the water line will be after exactly 7 seconds) so trying to make a word problem out of it is already an exercise in nonsense.

Right, the basic math that landlords make a profit off of rent, therefore rent is GREATER than the cost of the mortgage + standard expenses and upkeep.
