He’s signed a lot of EOs that weren’t legal, but they take time to go through the courts and be disqualified. He just needs this one to last until arpund November’s elections, so he doesnt care if its illegal or not, its just a delay tactic to help the Republicans during this election cycle.

Xatolos@reddthat.comto World News@lemmy.ml•Trump ‘threatens to stop’ weapons for Ukraine unless Europe joins Hormuz coalition25·2 months agoSo let me see if I understand this whole situation:
- Trump and Israel attack a Iran because… reasons…
- Iran fires back and closes the Strait
- Trump realizes that he is too weak and goes crying to Nato in hopes of hiding behind them
- Nato refuses to help the cowardly Trump
- Trump in a sulk cried about how Nato wouldn’t clean up his mess
- Now Trump in a spoilt temper tantrum is declaring he won’t keep other promises unless Nato fights his battles for him because he’s too much of a wimp to do it himself.
Do I have this right?
I don’t recall time travel in 4, 6, 7, or 13? 10 could be added to the list considering Tidus’s real history

Xatolos@reddthat.comtoMicroblog Memes@lemmy.world•google is a prison and the enemy of FOSS, we really need an alternativeEnglish22·2 months agoApple was the canary in the coal mine for this behavior in the EU. Apple was forced to allow third party apps, so Apple mandated that everyone had to register with them, and pay them their yearly fee, and then developers had to pay Apple another fee (core technology fee, still double dipping), and governments were completely fine with that. (And developers will happily jump through more hoops to develop on iOS).
Google saw this and decided if they can, so can Google. And this technically is the easier of the two as at least this doesn’t require every developer to register with Google this way.

There isnt anything preventing this. Most likely its to help prevent a minor mishap from long ago condemning your future abilities (otherwise, you’d have all sorts of small charges against every politician to destroy their career. It would make the worst blackmail material).
Now, morally why did enough people vote for him anyway is a whole different issue that I don’t have an answer for.
Xatolos@reddthat.comto Technology@lemmy.world•Your Pixel can now double up as a full Android PC with nothing more than a USB-C cableEnglish1·2 months agoNo, you tried making the false equivalence of claiming that if it cant be fixed for cheap, then it somehow isnt fixable at all.
So it’s i can’t get a car fixed for less than $100, I guess that means cars aren’t fixable?

Xatolos@reddthat.comto Technology@lemmy.world•Your Pixel can now double up as a full Android PC with nothing more than a USB-C cableEnglish1·2 months agoUpgrading isn’t repairing, and I said you can repair these devices. My question is what CAN’T you repair, not what can be repaired (which is what I did answer).
Xatolos@reddthat.comto Not The Onion@lemmy.world•Cops who went to snowball fight launch manhunt for people who threw snowballs at themEnglish12·2 months agoAnd any good lawyer will point out that when you are entering area that is clearly understood of the actions happening within (in this case, the snowball fight was publicly announced, this wasn’ta sudden “cops here, lets just start it now”), you are accepting of the assumed risks. In the case of a snowball fight, it is safe to assume that ice can sometimes get inside of a snowball, so they assumed the risk of this happening when they entered the publicly announced snowball fight.
Now, if there were rocks or other non-snow related objects, then you could make the argument you are trying here, but its not what happened.

And upgrades were never a part of the original comment, so what does that have to do with my comment?

Xatolos@reddthat.comto Games@lemmy.world•Video games are losing the "attention war" to gambling, porn, and crypto, according to industry reportEnglish10·3 months agoBecause the article is badly written.
It’s confusing money spend on X must equal time spent on X.
The total amount of money spend on video games has gone done but more money is now being spent on things like crypto currency. This is being claimed that it means that people are spending more time on crypto since they are spending more money there. It ignores other issues such as who is spending on what (its countries as a whole, not amlunt on average per user), gaming is more expensive, more games are being made as a live service and are flopping (Highguard anyone?), retro gaming is getting bigger (doesn’t cost a fortune), etc…
The other down side, 7 years of OS support before its EOL. Windows 10 gave at least 10, and then there is Linux.
Apple has the worst product life support/quickest forced obsolescence in the industry.
Just search for “Firefox Chan”. And maybe keep on SafeSearch too…
