Ibn Battuta (1304-1368) Born in Tangiers, Morocco, Ibn Battuta spent almost three decades (1525-54), covering 75,000 miles in his travels. He visited China, Mecca, Persia, Mesopotamia, Asia Minor and Bokhara in Central Asia, southern Spain, the North African city of Timbuktu, India, and Sumatra.
