It’s one of the first weaves I learned when I started weaving and one that I constantly use in my designs. It’s also one of the easiest weaves to learn when you’re starting out.😉

I usually start by wrapping the weaving wire around the bottom base wire, then wrapping the weaving wire around both wire two times and then repeating the process to create the weave. 🔨

You can even add variety to the pattern by changing the number of times you wrap each wire. It’s a fun and easy way to create your own pieces. ☺️

Sandy Lopez on Instagram: "Today I added an extension to a Viking knit weave I had started last week and it is a great opportunity to answer a question that many have : " how do I add new wire when it runs out ". To do so, I simply connect both strands by twisting the end of the finished wire to the new wire 3 to 4 times tightly ( not to tight or you could break the wire) , trim the excess, then resume the weaving making sure to tuck the stitch inside. On the video you can see that the weave I started last week has already naturally started oxidized since I made it and it is much darker compared to the new wire. I marked the stitch with black sharpie before pulling the chain through the plate so we can keep accurate track of it and see where does it hides after pulling it.
