Atlantic is the only label founded by the sons of a Turkish ambassador. Ahmet Ertegun moved to the United States in 1934 when his father, Munir, was appointed the Turkish ambassador to the U.S. Ahmet quickly became enamoured with American culture and it's music, particularly jazz and R&B.
