Did you even know this was possible? I surely didn’t! When I heard about the rotary tool kit for the laser cutter, I got so excited to try it out! As a potter who uses a wheel to throw, the majority of my work *is* round. So it only made sense to try laser engraving one of my designs onto mug - and I am beyond thrilled with the results. It of course took a bit of trial and error, but the detail that can be achieved with this technique is pretty damn astounding. Made with the xTool S1 40W ...

Creating masking effects is easier than you think! Anything that can stick to the ceramics will work. You can also use wax resist or latex, both of work well depending on the design effect you're trying to create :) Give it a try and let me know how it goes!

Did you know you can use screen printing for ceramics? I've been refining this technique on and off over the past year and feel like I'm finally making progress after making more failed tests than I can count. The biggest challenge has been getting a clean transfer and avoiding a patchy look, but it seems like using slip helps a ton! Can't wait to see how these look after being fired 🔥
