Supporting Troops

One thing the Titan Legions learned long ago is that Titans while effective and killing Titans will often be damaged by infantry. Once thought to small to consider a threat, now considered one of the worst. Bring on the Titan Legion support units.

I also wanted to get a close up of some weathering I did on the feet, toes and lower armor plates.
This look was achieved using Secret Weapon weathering powders. A super product and a perfect effect.

I am finally at the end of the road with Hyperion. I have some tiny things to do but he's done enough to be Operational.  I plan on basing, adding some weathering powder, scroll work and am holding out for some FW decal support.

Start work on the carapace, I wanted to blend the checker and camo, my first attempt failed miserably so I had to do a strip, this time around it looks like I'm on track. Weather will help blend it. Fingers crossed 

What's in a name?

So I'm still waiting on on last final part to finish my Titan. This waiting has given me a chance to work on some other aspects. Since Forgeworld does nor make a decal sheet for Legio Tempestus I decided to put my iPad to work. I downloaded the Tempestus banner that is from the HH books and with the magic of apps I was able to whip up my Titans banner.

Still to do is huge missing rear, that's the part I'm waiting on. Once that's done I need to do some seal coats and dull coats. Also plan on a base.

I did decide to go with the Greek Titan names and follow a little more of the Greek languages and less of the High-Gothic Latin that we see GW use. After reading the HH books and Titanicus, Legio Tempestus seems to me to be more of a Warrior Monk culture to me so I wanted to separate them a little.

Second I want to say after a break I'm back on task. I have been working on the head and crew.  It's at this point the Titans name and story start taking shape.

Unlike most naming conventions I went straight for a classical Greek name wanting to break the bonds of Mars. 

Certificate Number: 1833

Titan Name: Hyperion

Primary Armament: Missile Launcher, Gatling Blaster, Turbo Las-blaster.

Princeps: Princeps Aivas Tlamunus

Titan Legio: Legio Tempestus

Demi Legio: Ethelotis

Reaver Titan Hyperion's records show it as being active during the Crusades with the 12th Expeditionary Fleet.  After the Schism of Mars and the splitting of the Legio the bruised and battered loyal Titans of Tempestus made for Orestes, a Forgeworld that had assisted the Legio many times. Orestes, while a productive Forgeworld had never rated a Legio of there own and welcomed the remains of Tempestus with open arms.  During the Crusade the Magos of Orestes discovered that they and Legio Tempestus shared much more then just a common enemy.

Here comes the boom!

While I wait for some replacement parts from FW I've moved ahead with some weapon work. In order to make the weapons stand out from the body I incorporated a little more bronze.  I also wanted to do the "laser" look. I went with green so it would stand out. I also like the top/bottom checkers on the missile launcher. It fits and looks good.

So once again the paint peel got me again. Second go around, stripped old paint, washed, scrubbed, sealed, primed, let gully cure - peel.

Did the "damage" method, not painting it a third time.  I might buy a second one for a cleaner look.

I did add some decals. I think decals help add some needed surface details.

This project has been a true trial on my sanity. Now mind you I have washed all these bits with warm water and soap, and an extra scrub of the nail polish remover and used auto grade primer. And still have paint pull.

Started today with the missile launcher which was full failure and had to be stripped so to end the evening on a positive note I worked on the shoulder pads.

I still got paint pull but not nearly as bad. I decided to turn it into a positive. Since I'm doing weathering and battle damage I turned the pain of the paint into help.

Where the paint pulled I dabbed in Typhus Corruption, it gives a nice texture, once dry I dabbed leadbelcher. I will seal and wash tomorrow.

*** Update ***

I sealed with wax and applied my oil washes. It really helped blend it together. I still have to seal with Matt Clear Coat, that will help mute the colors even more bring it together.

Tip top shape

Coming along slowley. Went ahead and worked on the carapace. I was a little worried about how the camo and silver would work together on such a large surface. We'll no need to worry, I couldn't be happier. I will be adding some decals to the checkers in the future as well as the scroll work. I also wanted to keep the weathering down a little, keeping the weathering heavy down towards the bottom of the Titan.
